Are you looking for kit at that price or an rtr buggy? If that is all you have to spend on a kit then wait for the hot bodies buggy, you will need to come up with a little more cash but I dont know of a better value. The buggie should retail around 399.00.

buggy

I got an ofna lx1 for $299. it works good but you will have to get a steal gear servo for stearing and I also went with the mugen jp3 pipe. cheap servo around $45 and pipe $70.

If you get a poorly designed buggy that has no parts support for $289 instead of a well designed buggy with good parts availability/support for $449, you did not save $160, you wasted $289.

If you can't afford a quality kit right now, wait until you can. I promise you will be glad you did. The Hot Bodies D8 should be out next month. It will retail for $389.

Find a good used roller on this forum or ebay. I would recommend a Mugen MBX5 or a Cen Matrix. The other day on ebay, I saw a new Cen Matrix Pro kit go for $250.00. You will need your own radio, servos, and engine but that is a hell of a price for a decent buggy kit

if you want a rtr the cen matrix isnt a bad car for 330 parts are easy to get and they are acually pretty good handdling

You could also search ebay for a 8ight RTR or Kyosho Sport/MP7.5 RTR

You say the D8 is a great kit when no-one has one or knows what it is like  Seeing pics of it and watch the pros use it is nothing compaired to owning one

+1 on the D8. Im not knocking it...just saying, let's wait til "average Joe" gets his mits on it to pass judgement :)
Don't forget the Hyper 8.5. Search around, you can very likely find one between $350/400. Again, as mentioned, it is more than you want to pay, but it is well worth it over a no name.

Better bet on buying a used 1/8 buggy, and and buy a brand new entry level engine (rule number 1 never ever buy a used nitro motor !).
With new range of buggy coming up, there will be some good deal on hyper 8/ Xb8 and other MP777 around. Imho a used competion buggy worth much more than those crapy kyosho MKIII ...

I've got a used hyper 7 PBS roller for 100 $ on ebay It just need some cleaning and shock rebuild to keep it in order to run. :D

For just slightly more than you have budgeted, the Hyper 7 TQ is a great starter buggy (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRUS1&P=ML). It comes with a decent engine, has 14mm shocks, and spares and upgrades are readily available. Depending on the coupon situation at Tower, you may be able to get it for even less.

They have a $20 off coupon on the front page to make it $279.99.
