Close but no cigar! Thats the pro which came out much later. I dont know exactly when the Original Outlaw Rampage came out, but It was before the Nitro Hawk even. I just did a quick search...cant even find a pic of it, but it looks identical to the Outlaw Ultima...

Chadlow - nice! I've heard of quite a few people making their old Nitro Hawks and stadium trucks into circle track cars.

Looks like you have done quite a few mods on that car - mind listing some of them? Not only is it cool, it gives me options for when my car's parts break and I can't find replacements!

Is that an EZ-Start system on the engine?

Yep...thats an E-Z Start. I've seen some of the guys on the Traxxas forum add that. In order to make room for it you have to remove the cross brace and move the fuel tank forward. Personally I didnt want to do all that, thats why I went with roto start for my engine.

Yup thats a stinger, I put in a .15 with the easy start, basically the whole suspension is Rustler, rustler fuel tank, kinda had to turn it at an angle to clear the starter motor. The whole truck was burnt up in a fire, and it was owned by a good friend that passed away in 1999, we used to run together all the time. He left it to me, so for sentimental reasons I completely rebuilt the truck. The first time out it won the A-Main in the 2wd open oval class at my track, beating alot of nice NEW expensive cars, not bad for a vintage rig.

Momo or Chad - you guys have any preferred places to get TRX .15's from? I've also been scouring the net to see if I can find an MIP Stinger, but so far no luck. I think I am going to have to swap the engine, mine just doesn't hold a tune anymore. Not surprising, seeing as I was like 14 or so when I got it and I'm sure I didn't take care of it as well as I should have.

Tower has some for around $90...I saw one on ebay (long crank) but it rocketed up to $90 w/shipping before it sold so that wasn't exactly a deal.

Chad - I'd be interested in knowing how/what Rustler pieces fit on there, and if they were just bolt ons or needed modification to fit.

I looked around quite a bit for the best price on a Pro .15...$90 sounds about right. If toy can get the long crank version of it from Tower for $90, you might as well just order it from them.

yeah i've got the original and had it running again about 2 years ago. A friend was just getting started in R/C so I got the Outlaw running again for him to get some wheel time before his CEN Matrix arrived via mail. It was alot of fun until he drove it straight into a puddle!!! Oh well, if I get the urge I'm sure I can make it live again. I'll post pics of it later and I'm pretty sure I've got the box it came in too. sorry not for sale, this was my first nitro and I'll keep it forever.

I got it running - it starts up pretty quickly but I am having trouble with the tune. It idles ok, but I can't really get the engine to "clean out". It always seems either very rich (dropping raw fuel out of the exhaust, tons of smoke) or moves right to too lean and stalls out unexpectedly. This is still the original TRX .12 in it, so it might be time for me to get a new .15. I don't really know how much fuel has been run through that engine, but I had the truck for quite a while and I am sure my engine tuning skills weren't great back then. It might be toast. Temps are in the 240 range when it stalls and 190-200 when it's really rich. No happy medium that I can tell.

Really, there is just no power from the get-go. No torque, no low-end. The low-end adjustment screw is a huge pain to get to as well.

I think a .15 is in my future. I found a new one for $85! Now if only I could find the Stinger...
