Default Optimal Exhaust Tubing Length

This past weekend I was out racing and my exhaust tubing was cut. Since I only lost about one inch I just plugged it in and kept going. However this drastically richened up my tune.

What is the optimal length of the exhaust tubing from gas tank to exhaust for a 8ight?

OR does it really matter as long as the tune is bang on?

There is no real ideal length. Since you tuned the engine with a specific length of hose and then had to cut off an inch, it would richen up and you would have to retune. Same goes for adding more pressure hose, it would lean out mostly in the midrange. One idea would be to measure your hoses and record the lengths. If you need to replace them and you run the same lengths and type hose, your tune should not change. I have seen more issues from running too long of a hose than shorter hose.
