2005 crf 450

I have some red silicone that I use the exhaust on my dirtbike, its rated for 600F.

I assume its fine to use as an engine sealant. right?

Where do you put engine sealant, the only place I know is the carb.

damn that guy does a good job, is it necessary to seal the engine that much?

Ive never sealed an engine before and have been through about 3 of them, does it even make a differnece? how many here people seal their engines?

I rarely seal engines. If anything, I will dab a lil goo on the carb pinch bolt, that's it. Whatever you use, be sure it is o2 sensor safe. It will say that clearly on the tube. If you do not see that, then it likely isn't.

O2 safe has NoTHING to do with anything....sencondly...orange RTV WILL not work...that thread is BOGUS except for the fact it show's where most mills leak....and yes sealing motor's is Very important.

The best stuff to get imo is the lucky 7 sealant from tko. Copper sealant will work as well, mostly look for stuff that is safe for aluminum. Some of the sealants have corrosive properties with aluminum. Gray, the O2 sensor safe sealant is good for this application. Red is a high temp and it will work fine as long as it is recommended for use with aluminum.

As for sealing everything up, really your choice, more precaution than anything. Just one more thing to take out of the equation when you have engine problems if it is all sealed up. Its not really as important as some may think to seal up the components, the orings are designed to seal, they work plain and simple.

I posted that like to show you where leaks can occur and how to seal those leaks. I don't seal everything up either. I just do the carb, pinch bolt and back plate

Our nitro fuel will eat up sealants...unless of course, the chosen sealant is sensor safe. Proven time and again.
