Default Sportsmanship or stupid?

Yes I know....these types of threads are dangerous and usually end up in a flame out war. However, I wanna see what the general thought on this is.....and yes this thread is spawned partly from this weekend's racing.

How much should you give for the leader(s) passing you?

You are still racing against other people for position....if you give for the leaders you may cost yourself a spot. I'm not saying don't let'em by....but after a certain point your just killin' yourself. I do realize that there are a million or so equations to consider....all with different answers.

And gentelmen....try to be civil.

Let them go then try to follow them by the guy you are fighting with.

On my local track there are a ton of birms, so I only let faster cars by riding them high when they are right behind me, I generally set it up to where it is fast and they have room to pass then I am right behind them, it allows them to get by me safely without me losing much time.

Dude...that's a common thing.

My problem was getting broke while letting them go....by one of them...while in 3rd.

just drive your line. if you are getting lapped then he has already passed everyone already and knows how to do it.

Ha Ha....I just seen that....I should call him now.

We had this discussion after the race yesterday...

But it wasn't him that broke me.

Burton and I race pretty clean most of the time...we also try to keep it pretty clean with other drivers as well. I know he's alot faster than I am so I let him by.....same with anyone else that's faster than I am.

I tried to let a guy pass me 3x in 1 lap and he made a mistake each time and couldn't make the pass...then he crashed me and broke me. I tried to do the right thing....ended up gettin' the shaft.

sometimes tryin to move is forsure worse than just sticking to your line..when i raced TC , we always drive our line for the 1st time we got lapped..your still on the same lap as the leader..after the 1st time its way more easy to just drift a little wide if they are fast they will take advantage of it ..but then again.. ive actually got in to an arguement for opening the door a few times and the faster guy not taking it ..then he was mad i didnt just let him by.its take it or leave it . i think like the others said ..hold your line..and dont do anything drastic..if you getting lapped chances are you will bobble and they should be able to just go around you ...most i ever do is just let up a hair..and go a touch wide..its up to them if they take it ...

If your being lapped you should get out the way. Maybe not on the very next corner, that can end badly. But I feel within 1/2 a lap is fair, I don't think it's hard to work out a good place to let the leaders through and to be honest trying to race them again only really ends up making the back marker look like an arse. It's easy to go wide on a corner entry or exit or even on the straight to let someone through. It can end badly though if you try to keep up your pace after forcing them off line, thats when you end up driving into the guy you just let pass

anyway short version let the fast guys through as soon as you can, then follow them and LEARN the fast line around the track
