I finally got my AKA's yesterday and spent the night gluing them up. Very impressive packaging, reusable bag great idea. I mounted them on Proline V2 rims. I have to say that this was the easiest time I've ever had setting up and gluing tires. I will run my tires till the foams start coming out of the vent holes just so I don't have to glue new ones. The foams are awesome they don't bunch up when you put the tire on the rim and they virtually center themselves in the foam track. Minimal tire prep. There were some ridges that needed shaved down on the glue bead but it took almost no time at all. Give the glue beads a real good cleaning with some Denatured Alcohol and start gluing.

Now I'm just hoping that the Northwest doesn't get any rain this weekend so I can try them out at the McCullough's 7th annual Race Against Cancer. I'll keep you posted.

I got my Cityblocks and I Beam's today. Mounted up perfectly with the aka glue! Definetely the tires of choice.

F.y.i for everyone who has ever glued up any set of tires.

I didn't do the research but a very reputable person in our office did. He may even share his findings with everyone at some point. I would like to share the important details though.
Basically Any type of alcohol, motor spray, water ect when used on your tire bead will actually deteriorate the glue bond from tire to wheel. If you've noticed when you wash your tires a lot the glue starts to deteriorate a bit excessively. I know with the AKA tires we don't clean the bead at all and make sure to use a nice bottle of (AKA) glue and we haven't had any issues.

Just a friendly FYI, take it or leave it.

Some of that could be matter of preferance. I personally have had more glue bond failures from not cleaning the tires before mounting them than when I thoroughly clean them. There is still a mold release compound on the tires when they are packaged up and that (in my opinion) should be washed off. I have used warm water and dish liquid or the denatured alcohol.
Really though, tire mounting prep is a matter of opinion of what works best.

When I mounted up my city blocks the other day, I did NOT clean the bead and they have not come loose at all. I was not able to use AKA glue (used losi) but I am not having any issues at all.

I think what Lutz is saying is that for AKA's rubber, they have found it is best to not clean the tires with anything. I have used their tires w/o cleaning them and they stayed on the wheel fine...I have never tried cleaning their tires so I do not know if it makes the glue bond worse or not. Other brand tires/rubber you have to do things differently. For example, Proline you have to clean with motor spray, Losi sometimes you have to clean them and sometimes you don't (depends on the tire and class it's used for). Then Panther tires I had them come off of the wheel a lot whether I cleaned them or didn't do anything.

there isn't any mold release compound used on AKA tires, the brown color you see in the glue is oil from the rubber

we've been pulling out tires and gluing at the track 10 minutes before a heat, and they are on there forever
