Its called lap traffic not get out of the way traffic. Its a race. If the mentality were this theory it may end the hostility.
Lap me if you can sucka.

We get a few idiots at our track and they get upset when they get hack on an accident.

The owner of the track says look if you don't like it run with the experts. Your more likely not to get hacked, just lapped.

Default Pull out of the way, but let the leader know....

Whenever the leader is coming up to lap me, I will usually keep going until I can find a wide corner. If I recognize the car and he/she is standing close by on the driver stand, I will usually tell the leader that I am going to shoot the next corner wide and for him to go on....

Now if I am having a close race for position with someone, the leader can just make their way around us.....but if I am out by myself, there is no reason to mess up both our races by trying to race the leader being a lap down....

The old saying of 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' applies to racing as well IMO....down the road, you might be having a great night and the other person may be out to lunch. If you treat him/her right on their good night, then hopefully they will return the favor on YOUR good night!

I used to play nice but no matter what skill level people just don't get it. This thread is proof...I have no problem lapping you though, if you don't make a mistake and you stick to your line I'll be more than happy to get you out of my way LOL

Good job calling people who get hacked idiots, like you've never been annoyed that somebody hit you, and I'm sure it's happened. It's happened to everybody.

The only time I don't like getting hacked is when someone cant distinguish my skill level and confidence from his own.
Then hacks me on purpose. Like posted earlier. Bumping is a good method, 1 is a I would like to pass you tap, 2 is a good I would love to pass tap, and 3 is a sorry the guy chasing me will have to deal with ya now.
"Hit" just sounds very mean. Don't mean to rub ya wrong but rubbings racing.
I can tell your not a hacker with out a warning bump.

Just because a race is called a race doesn't mean the 10th place guy who is 5 laps down should be trying to get ahead of the leader...if you're 5 laps down you're not going to make that time up.

I don't get why people don't understand that just having the slow guy get out of the way and stop for 1 second won't hurt the slow driver. Even with the most consistent guys their laps vary from one to two seconds, what will one second hurt for the guy whose laps are 5 seconds apart? And in long gas races it's not like you're giving up a position if you're all alone and you're getting lapped.

If you think that the fast guy should just try and pass the slow guy because he's obviously faster, well...you're the reason why most races are hack fests.

Screw the blue flag? Screw you.

Differing opinions on the subject....imagine that.

This thread is NOT soley a result of this weekends events....but that did play a role.

I'm talkin' about Pro classes....doesn't matter if your 1 lap or 1000 down to the leader(s). Unless your last...your always in front of someone else. I agree to let the leaders go....but how much do you expect me to do so you can go by? I shouldn't have to risk my position over the dude behind me just cause you want by on your line. I do my best to race clean against everyone no matter how far I'm ahead or behind....just seems that more people get the raw deal trying too hard to make way for the lead guys. And yes...I did get broke by one of them...told him where to pass me at 2x in the same lap and he couldn't make it....then he crashed and broke me. Did he do it on purpose....seemed like it at the time....but maybe not. Either way...it's still a sore subject for both sides obviously.

this is what i see happen more often..i think he is not realising most of us arent talking about the pro truggy class at a nat..we are talking about a local race where you will have fast and slow guys in the same race...a pro driver has the skill to move and make it all happen clean..or not..lol

So if you were in a points series and were in the top 5 in the series and had a shot to podium the series.....but were having trouble in your main and was 3 laps down to the top 3 guys but close to the rest of the field....you would stop and let them by....and risk loosing your current position and possibly points as well?

Is that what your saying?

Plz watch this vid from the Manufactures Cup. Watch when the leaders come up to lap trafic how they move over and let them by. At one point you will see someone stop to let them by. If a pro driver will do this why souldn't us lower class guys do the same.

You have to understand that myself and many others don't care if you make just enough room to get past the roadblocks or if you go wide around the turn...if you're racing for position I'll recognize that. I don't expect people to get out of my way at any cost to their race, you guys just interpret it like that. Normally in a long gas main or a qualifier you're not racing side by side for position though, infact some positions are laps apart.

Also don't get me wrong, I've been in the position where I've been lapped many times...but if the guys faster, the fastest guys race is the priority and I won't risk his race for my own. And if I'm racing somebody for position in a points race they should do the same.
