Default Front/Rear shock oil weight differences between 8ight and MBX5R?

Just curious, it seems most setups on the 8ight are 40 Front and 25 Rear. I just bought a 5R and it seems most run a very similar weight front and rear, maybe 40/40 F/R or 40/35 F/R. Why is there such a big difference between the two cars? I’m going to try 40/30 F/R on the Mugen this weekend in an attempt to gain more rear traction.

Your thoughts?

I am no shock expert, but the Losi 8 has big bores and the MBX5R does not, so it probably has to do with the volume of oil that the different shocks hold. I have an 8 and a 5R, in the 8 I would run a combo of 35-30, 35-25, 40-30 or something in that range. In the 5R I run 32.5 in the back and 27.5 in the front. It is different than a lot of guys but it works for me.
