all in the eyes of the beholder

id say if you chose a crappy buggy it'd be an xtm buggy,or redcat...something along those lines:

jammin, losi, mugen, kyosho,ae etc. are all good buggies i personally own a jammin and love it...sure it's a little heavier and such but it drives well and has great durability i like the losi cause it's nimble but the jammin feels more planted which is what a sportsman level at best driver like myself needs

From personal experience the best buggy is either the Xray 808 or the Losi 8

The worst buggy is the GV Xterminater 2, they are really only a 'Bash the hell out of' car and not good for any thing else

It all depends on what you want to do with the buggy. If your a serious racer I'd suggest a well known brand that has good parts support. Like AE,Losi,OFNA,Mugen, and Kyosho. They all offer a great well balanced car. If your more into bashing or running out in front of your home, try a rtr kit. All these companies and a few more offer these types of kits. They all have there pros and cons and imo, these are some:
AE:Good buggy, great part support, 1st series of car, needs some bugs worked out.
Losi:Good buggy, good part support, have heard it can be difficult to drive for beginners, don't know for sure.
OFNA:Easy to drive, good part support, some circles say a inferior product, ie: parts tend to break more easily than other companies.
Mugen: Great all around buggy, drives good, part support at times may be difficult, all hobby shops are different.
Kyosho: Great car, drives great, part support is subpar in most hobbyshops, and parts tend to be more expensive than others.

These are just 5 brands that came to mind, some will agree with what I said and some will disagree. I've been in the hobby for 16 years and have owned at some point each one of these brands. To say which one is best is unfair, if we knew that, than everyone would own one. Hope this helps and good luck!!

Ok... let me see if I can contribute anything useful.

First, have you ever driven RC cars on a racetrack? Do you plan to race?

If the answer to the first one is no, and the second is yes...

I'd suggest a Mugen MBX5 (or MBX5 Prospec, or MBX5R) They are tough as nails, easy to get parts for, and more stable and forgiving than anything else made.

Second choice would be what I drive, the Jammin.... the Jammin will out-turn the Mugen, and it is a little bit lighter (not much) but it is still pretty stable and easy to drive.

Third choice is a Kyosho SP2 or WC. Very much like the Jammin, but lasts longer... and costs a lot more to begin with.

I'd steer clear of the XRay, Losi, and AE offerings AS A BEGINNER. They're all GREAT cars... but harder to drive because they perform so well.
