Default Engine Choices

Hi Guys,

I am looking at re-powering my truggie as i feel the motor in it has some issues, it is only 4lts of fuel old....... I took it out todau and found it would not rev and kept stalling at anything over 1/2 throttle. I checked head temp and was around 127 C. (20% AT)

I replaced the glow plug with an OS A5 and ran it again to find that the performance was back although i had to re-tune it from the race day settings???

Once it had cooled off the engine seemed to have lost its "pinch"
no idea why....

So i have been looking at a new motor so far i like the Picco 28 Turbo and also the GO 6 port 28 or an Axial 28.

Can you guys lend some advise/experience in this department. I have been looking on e-bay and also AMain.

Thanks in advance

Brad

I have never owned any of the engines you named but would probably choose the Picco out of the three. The OS 30VG would be another one I would consider. My brother had the 21 VG and it was no monster by any means but it was faster than the .26 and .28 RTRs he was running against at the time and was fairly durable.
If you could squeeze out another $70 or $80 bucks you could get a top shelf engine. The OS 28 XZ is an all out killer. I had one and it was the most amazing power I have ever seen. Will last a lot longer than any of your other choices if treated right too, just my honest opinion.

RB S5 L2G is $229 I like RB's there are easy to tune in my opinion and last the longest. That comment is an argument waiting to happen. The GO's are an exceptional value at $209 for the 7port.

Whatever you decide, make it a .21. Plenty of power, easier to handle, best of all, better fuel economy.

As far as your budget goes, there really isn't anything in my experience that will run with a Go 5 or 7. Preferably a 7. The only engine I've run with that can match my top end/power is the GRP's. and I pretty much run with everything except for Vspecs. (there not popular around here)

I did hear a guy I race with picked up an Extech so we'll see how that compares.
