I tried the RB round filter on my XT8 truggy and it worked really good, its really thick so you would expect it to clean the air quite well. I ran about a 1/4 gallon with the standard ebay cover on it. The dirt didn't even get 1/2 way through the foam pre-filter layer, I'm pretty happy. I used AE sticky blue pre-filter oil and Mugen red filter oil on the inner foam.

you can also use the ofna tube and it will reposition the rb filter a a little further around the motor and out of the way..

ha ha. i dont cut corners tho. i just buy a new filter every week. in this hobby you cant be worried about money. but thats why a lot of hobby shops are shuttin there doors because people dont have the money to worry about with the economy.

Is this the Ofna tube you are talking about? Hmmm might work, I used to use it on my old XB8.

unless you mount them to something solid ive seen those filter's Fold at the neck and kill the motor.........i ran one for a while till i realized what could and would happen given the right landing. ...i like the losi style filter...its small doesen't get in the way and replacements are reasonably priced.

Not to mention the Ofna S bend filter tube(that I used to run) puts the filter as close to the hottest part of your car.. If your head reads 225 degrees how hot do you think the air going into your filter is when the filter is touching the head? Going from the S bend pipe to losi assembly I had to richen the motor over 3 hours, that is a huge difference.

True,... the Losi style housing is like a cold air intake for buggies. The only down side is the fuel overspill possibility.

Yeah that is the right ofna tube. It will reposition the filter so that is is right next to the motor. Put an Rb filter and pre filter on it and you eill be dialed!!!
By the way if you can tell your motor is getting rich by the end of a 30 min. main with a fresh filter you ought to be a pro.

RB filter assembly with either RB or PSR foams, both oiled, wrapped with horse tape(3M Vetrap).

IMO the horse tape works much better for keeping the large dirt particles out than the outerwears style wraps.

So whats cheaper, the blue shop towels, or the horse wrap? LOL! But hey, when your running $300-500 race motors,... whatever works best... is best! I like the ebay covers, because they are easier to install and are not too expensive. But like I said, whatever floats your boat... LOL! Any cover, is better than no cover at all.

Hint:
In my RC8 i have the Hobao filter case with P-S-R foams & oil.
The P-S-R foams for Hobao are a lot cheaper than the P-S-R RC8 foams and equally good!
