Default MBX5R - Spiral Cut Diff Gears - ???????

Hello,
What is the advantage of having the spiral cut diff gears in my MBX5R? Are these gears available for front, center, and rear? Can I use the same cases that's on my 5R currently and just buy the gears from somewhere? Also, could someone please post a link to what I need to buy to make this conversion (usually buy everything from A-Main, so if someone could post links to that site), I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks!

Blake

what u need is the bevel (small) and crown (large) gears for the front and rear diffs, and a 16/17t clutch bell and a 44t spur gear

It gears the 5R lower to make it accelerate harder. It is a world of difference. You need the ring and pinon from the 5T to make it work. You will also need a larger clutchbell. Personally you can get away with the 46 spur, the 44 is better, but you can get away with the 46 if need be. I switch between the 46/17 and 44/16 combo depending on track size.

You can buy it from amain but it is a very expensive upgrade. You can come out a lot cheaper getting a complete 5T diff from eBay, plus you get new out drives and everything in the deal. A diff will run about 25 bucks on ebay and a couple 5T pinons about 15, so 65 and you should be done. Amain will run well over a 100.

The spiral cut diffs are also more effecient, you will notice your drivetrain is a lot free-er with the 5T diffs.

I think I may have a 44T spur gear new in package if you're interested? If so, email me at [email protected]

Best regards,

Superx421 I might have a complete setup for sale, complete diffs front and rear, crown gears, pinions, 44 tooth spur gear, and 16 & 17 tooth clutch bells. All of it used maybe a gallon in great shape. Shoot me an email if interested and I will give you a price on it all.
