Questions?? Ninja/GRP Parts Compatibility?

I have a Ninja B01 .21 and my LHS manager tells me that the only major change between the Ninjas and the new mills is the port timing. He says the new crank and piston/sleeve will work in my Ninja. I trust him however, I would like a second opinion. The only way I would know if they won't work is if the parts don't fit. I don't want to put them in and start trying to crank the thing and then it not work...won't be able to return the parts then. Anyone know?

They all should fit, the crank on the grp has a bigger hole in the back and the grp backplate is different but will fit, if you ran the grp crank in the ninja id change the backplate aswell, maybe the different backplate design is to compliment the bigger hold in the back, ive had a ninja rod in my grp with no probs, i suspect the piston and sleeve would fit the ninja too. The carb and bearings are the same also.

How will I know if the Ninja BP won't work? Will it hang up?

Try the grp crank with the ninja bp and see what happens, i cant see it doing damage, might be untuneable, who knows. Its just a theory.

I went back and looked at the GRP BP and I see what you are talking about now. The GRP has an indention. I wonder if it is flow related? If it is I would have to agree with you, could make it untuneable.

NEMESIS44: Hey Mario, can I get some assistance here?

Mario: Ummm yes....you should buy my new race tuned promo kit and use the
supplied backplate. Then take the Sunburst Baseball Cap and apply it
to your cranium backwards..that should pick you up a few tenths

Thanks Frank, I think I will just go ahead and get the BP. Not like it cost much.

My crank came in today and the hole in the GRP crank is alot smaller than the Ninja crank. I am not gonna pretend to have the slightest clue as to how much difference this will make in performance but it seems like it would. In the 4-cycle world if there was a size margin that large where fuel and air flow, it would be a dramatic difference.

I have all three the GRP , Ninja , and the MRT Ninja. Very slight differences and all have interchangeable parts. One note is the GRP crank has less bottom end.

One thing I did try was an RB crank from a C6 and it worked also (tons of power) although it makes it hard to tune.
