Seems like every manf just wants to copy each other these days...
I think it is great and would love to see it happen... after all the losi truck needs competition as the SLASH being SPEC is a class of their own!

I have been lucky on a lot of this stuff..I saw the T4 run before it's release..like 6 months before (I had said that I saw them testing it and was basically told the same thing as your saying to me right now..) Most of the testing for the off road stuff is done at the local tracks in and around the Los Angeles area..sometimes if you get lucky you might see them testing..but with this said, the RC community is relatively small and when the request of no photos please..they honor the request..and by the time the public gets to see it most of the testing has been done and they have probably raced it a few times also..now on the "police find out at crime scenes" babel..99% of the witnesses DONT get to go over and talk to the "person" for a while asking questions about "stuff"..I'm not a noob who doesn't know what hes looking at..I only have one version on what i saw..well at least part of your screen name is spot on..

The Losi dessert truck miss the boat and is just another 1/10th off- road truck ...

Bet Losi will have to make another and better attempt with a CORR style design...

You may be right, newer hobbyistsare demanding die cast realism in their R/C cars. Companies that deliver looks AND performance will be in good shape.

Just don't design in too much performance. Part of "scale" is realistic performance. Remember where TC's came from and look at the sad place they're in now...

I have a feeling this is going to be 1/8. Can you picture an RC8 with a truck body? Look at the wheel nuts. There are side view pics in the new Extreme r/c mag.

Unfortunately that is what the racers wanted.

Noooooooooooooo! There's enough 1/8th scale crap on the market already!

Scan it!

One thing I have learned from repetitive observation of classes morphing and eventually failing in this hobby is that sometimes racers need to be told what they want. I'm sure you know what I mean better than anybody Rick.

Over years of much observation I've seen that bashers are plenty happy being told what they want, but racers aren't - and if they are, they're known to tinker until they figure out a better mousetrap.

Your very right about racers tinkering. We always want to extract more performance from our stuff but in the end we wind up with tires that are fast but don't last, batteries that are only good for 5-6 weeks and motors that eat themselves. After a year or two a class is a shadow of it's former self and we're back to wallet racing (hence, the TC racing reference). That stuff can be largely taken care of by rules limiting what can be done to the equipment, don't you think?

I agree that some folks tinker to extract the smallest of on-track advantages, yet others tinker just for the sake of tinkering. So it's my opinion that taking away the tinkering ability sends classes down the same road to nowhere that most spec-classes have gone.

IMHO I tend to think that the main thing that will keep this classification of truck healthy is a tire-limiting rule - and that's the only thing it needs. With a realisitic-looking tread design and it's traction-limiting performance I tend to believe that the guys wanting to dump boatloads of money into motors and batteries are going to do just that with no appreciable performance gain. While the guys just wanting to keep things simple can do just that and still be competitive because as in all dirt racing it's all about putting the power down - and with some sort of scale-looking truck tread (no pins) the deed will be accomplished.

That would be a huge step in the right direction.
