i like to break out my tamtech frog with brushless, but it would be sweet to get an old tyco and update it with some oil filled shocks, servo, radio, brushless, etc, hahahaha

it's all about having some fun there with these cars and the companies that make em for us to buy.

I've driven other cars to see what they feel like and they all ads-and disads and if your happy with your car then don't let them bring you down.

Tyco/Nikko for life Hyper 9 just makes me faster.

Got it and I agree! Its supposed to be fun, it sucks that so many people just want to fight.

Does anyone remember Fat Wheels! You blew up the tires, and it bounced all over the place, that was my favorite, until Air Hogs. I still play with air hogs, they make some cool shit, and I have this thing called a pteradactyl. It's 4 vehicles in one, it goes on water, ice, ground, and it flies. That's awesome also.

Think I'm gonna start a new thread about old time favorites

Hey guys, I was at my local track yesterday-Clanfield UK. Helping out doing some, track work ect.. And Got to see, John Hazlewood+His Hyper 9. Im, New to track racing im just getting into it and hopefully going to do my 1st meet soon. But my god, That Hyper 9 was Super agile, great on the break and was just plain awsome. Granted it helps to be the number 1 Uk driver, but It was really nice to watch. I got to see it a little close, up and its looks a seriously nice piece of kit! I myself drive a Hyper 8.5 Pro kit. But, man that Hyper 9 looks so so solid. This was my 1st time seeing a top driver in action, and my they are soo consistant, and super tight.. I spent hours watching him, and trying to learn his thorottle tone!

Cheers!

Well im not happy with mine at this stage.

Cant get a set up on our loose tracks. My 8.5 was so much better.
NO REAR Grip is my problem and have tried everything.
Will try some more things next test day. Not even worth trying to race as its too much off the pace.

Oh, that's sucks! How long have you had it? John was winging about too much grip, which I think is not a problem many Buggy racers have issues with haha

have you disassembled to make sure nothing is wrong?

leaky diff, broken gears, bad shock? Output drives slipping? rear Pinion gear not meshed good?

It sounds a little too extream to be the buggy

a guy at my track had one today. he was amazed with the buggy, his only problem was the engines was a little tricky to tune. I overheard him saying he was lapping 2 seconds faster. and this buggy was out of the box, broken in that morning.

Thanks Jaz.

I rebuilt the 9 from a whole strip down.

Diffs are all ok with smooth operation. New oils 5000 wt, 3000 wt and 1000 k F to R.. Shocks are all good with 35 wt oil and Tim Bump's reccomended drilled pistons. ( Maybe my problem) .

Have found it better with no rear sway bar.
Toe in 1 d up front.
ride height arms level front to rear.
Blue springs all round.
M3 bow ties.

Havent had a chance to play with front ride height as its a balance issue.
I think a lot more front ride height will help to give the back end more grip.
Thicker front oil.
Stiffer front springs.

Are my orange springs stiffer than the blues??

I really want to get on top of this. Another Hyper 9 is having the same problems .. Been racing for 20 yrs and have always been able to get on top of any bad handling buggy.

Having trouble with my OS more and will have to fix that.

Thanks for your help and i will keep trying ..

Cheers Mark.

OK did another track test and was sooo much better.

Still had a lot of steering but was controlable.

Did a few more changes and am getting my spirits back.

Jumps really nice. Changes direction really quick. Has a heap of on power steering as well.

Only complaint is the back stills snaps out under power out of a corner.

The track was very loomy and will be better on race days i say.

Thanks to all that helped and Pm'd me.

Cheers.

Mark.

hey guys! just as quick tip that may solve a couple problems. During my first run I was making good progress with making setup adjustments but I couldnt help but notice that there were times the car just wasnt consistent and the rear end would just wipe out. My diagnosis was that the metal brake discs were hanging on the calipers creating bind on the drivetrain, even more when the car isnt level thereby tilting the discs. After this I swapped out the metal disc for fiber discs and I made a guide for the front disc. Lift up the car on one end at a time and turn your drivetrain forward and backward to see if your brakes are binding. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Let me know what you guys think.
