Novarossi Plus 21-5K or Turbo

Looking at getting either the Novarossi Plus 21-5K or plus 21-5KT amd was wondering what the pros and cons of getting a Turbo and a standard plug in this engine are. Any info?

come on guys, turbo or standard?

IMO, get the turbo engine. If you decide to get a standard head button for the engine later, it should be cheaper than the turbo button.

josh_c: I'll give you my 2 cents worth on the subject, I have both Turbo & Standard Plug engines (RB Concepts) in which I run in my Buggys & Truggies, I don't dislike either, but the Turbo Plug is supposed to give you up to 10% more power & in my opinion gets better fuel mileage, but sometimes they are a little more difficult to get started & mine seems to take just a bit longer to warm up but when it does, it's Awesome. I'm not sure if you're planning on putting it in a Buggy or Truggy, as I run a Standard Plug WS7 III in my 777 WC & a Turbo Plug C6 BB7T Big Bang in my Truggy!

I'm going to run it in my buggy. I also considering the C6BB L2G as well. Heard great things about it. I just want a nice crisp running engine with all the power when you need it. Seem like the OS speed is a little under powered compared to these engines, but i'm open to opinions.

P5XST then buy a standard head button to go with it . use with dynamite 086hs pipe/header combo = super smooth and super fast !!!:D:nod:

I use the Plus 21-5K on my Xray buggy and it just pulls down the straight and has an awesome bottom end. Linear power through all powerband.

josh_c 07-08-2008 04:58 PM

poppin fresh, would you say it is one of the most powerful engines out there? not too concerned with top-end but always nice.

Poppin Fresh 07-08-2008 05:48 PM

It's up there with the big boys.

i have narrowed my choices down to an OS speed Alu version, a C6BBT or a Nova plus 21-5KT. Can people share which one has more power, economy and its overall ranking as an engine. I basically just want to get the best and badest engine out there.

Poppin Fresh 07-09-2008 03:48 PM

If a bad ass engine is what you're looking for then the OS Speed Alu. Head is what you want. The C6 is the standard when it comes to monstrous a powerband and the Novarossi Plus 21-5K is more linear and controllable.

but the longevity of the OS speed isn't as great as the other RB or NR is it? I hate making engine decisions....

I would say the turbo just my .02

If you have a choice i would say the C6BBTL2G if you want power.

I've gotten good life out my Speeds so far. I have both Novas and OS Speeds. From what I can say, the OS will come up to tune and break-in faster, so you get to fully use it earlier than say a Novarossi. The Novarossi will need a bit more tuning attention during the fbreak-in and then just remain constant for long time. Will hold pinch and compression for what seems like forever, at least for me. But the OS Speed still lasts pretty good.

definately get the turbo button...the 21-5k can be a PITA to tune..the turbo head will smooth it out a bit and make more power as well as being a bit easier to tune. Also, run a OD97T plug and you will be good to go...all that being said, mine (21-5kt) is the most finicky motor I have ever run (it was far worse with the standard plug in it....I changed to the turbo head)...good engines, but I honestly will not be buying another one (especially when you can get a GRP for about the same price and the GRP has more power, better runtime, and is less finicky on the tune)
