temporary AM radio for 1/8 nitro buggy....will i be safe??
I am in need of using an AM radio until a couple weeks when I get my dx3r.........I just got new rc8 and mill, and want to get some practice laps in at new track that was just built. However, I have heard nightmarish stories about runaways and other shit with using AM and nitro.....LMK your thoughts, as I dont want my rc8 and new servos/mill destroyed, I have no fail safe, only GMK Carb-O's...will I be safe or should I just wait?? The radio im gonna maybe use is a JR xr2i......LMK and thanks for your help/suggestions........peace Trevor

if your asking the question...im sure u have heard bad things......so trust ur gut....go talk to another local racer and see if he's got a spare something that's Not a Junky AM.....if anything get a racer's old FM unit....i would'nt trust a AM radio as far as i could throw it.

AM is in my opinion alot better than FM. there are less frequency issues when it comes to AM. either you was in a bad spot when you was running an AM or your just dumb. If i had an AM trans i would run that more than a FM.

How do you think folks got along, and RCing flourished, before the invent of spread-spektrum technology?
The only potential problems that could arise is a frequency conflict, but ifyou have spare crystals and make sure you check before putting your buggy on the track you shouldn't have any issues.
Your new 3XR will NOT eliminate any runaway problems you'd potentially expereince with the JR xr2i - the only ultimate protection from those is a quality fail-safe.

Yeah AM isnt as nice as FM, but when you are in a pinch it works.
Just like DSM is better than FM, im no genious or anything, but I seem to see allot of Futaba guys reffering back to that junky FM system when there DSM system lets them down.

Pwnzor, looks like you opened a can of beans brother! FYI I used to run am all the time in a POS 1st gen hot boddies lightning ghetto rigged all to heck and never had a problem worse than a lil delay with servos.
