Default which engine size best for truggy, .21 or .28?

im expecting my x2 in a couple of days, i wonder what engine size is best for racing it:

would it be a .21, or the new .28s in the market.. if it's a .21, which among my choices: OS speed, nova 7ports or nova 367?...

if it's gonna be a .28, my choice would only be the new nova .28, but should it be the - 3port, 5port or 7port?

thanks

I'm running an OS .28 XZ with a 2060 pipe right now. Unbeleivable power, and 8:30 to a tank is making me very happy right now.

The OS Speed is a very fast, and fuel efficient engine. They can get expensive though..

This is basically a ford vs chevy debate.

People who read a magazine will swear to the 21. Others will swear to the 28.

I personally run a RB 728 in my mugen and love it. Couldnt ask for a better motor with a 14t CB and a JP3 pipe.

Agreed. I see guys using the Jammin .21 in their truggies and they fly. Just get something with great fuel mileage, reliable, and all around good powerband.

I could get into all sorts of techni-speak, and offer a lot of differing reasons for going either way - but the most basic example is that while I usually prefer to run a .21 in my own truggy, it's not only just as fast as my buddies that are running .28s but I get a lot better mileage.

I run a CEN TR Factory with a .21 PICO. My local track is Revaltion, I run stock gearing and need more bottom and top. I'm down to a couple .21 motors. I want something I can run 6-7 gallons threw and is easy to tune.

What do you think of the.

O.S. 21VZ-B V-Spec EB Mod w/21C Slide Carb???

EB mod V-spec motors have some bad reviews of missing parts and subpar assembly???

Or a.

O.S. Speed 21 VZ-B V-SPEC AL

Tower has a cool flex play on the OS motors... I just want a solid mill.

I know they have the .28 truggy motor, I just feel I might be a little squirley with a .28 and mileage???

I was also told RB has a long life span and is a good peice.

RB Concept WS7 TURBO L2G

How about the WASP???

Thanks

that new Ninja motor is KILLER for any truggy! allot less than the speed but provides more bottom and has a killer top end! cant beat it for the cash.

.21 is more than enough with right clutch setup and .28 will make it easier for short run ups...but a powerful .21 is enough...we're talking vspecs, nova's,grp's,etc.

.28's os,nova,werks,etc.

In the Chevy vs. Ford thing, I have to stay neutral. MOPAR--->

For the the .21 vs .28 I run them both. Depending on the track size and turf you will have to be the judge. In the past two years I have run RB 928 and 728 with great success. 728 has so much torque that it can climb a tree with little to no effort. The 928 is just an insane 728 that wants you to beat on it! for a smaller track, just run a 21. For larger more technical tracks I would run a .28. If your track is dry with little traction go with a .21 . If you have good traction, a 28 (especially a RB 28) is very hard to beat!

WE did a pretty indepth article with Scott Hughes on the Pros/Cons of each size engine.

.28 have more power, but will also get you into trouble more. I'd say if you're racing go for a .21 (all the pros are doing it ) and if you're just a weekend racer who cares that they have an insane fast truck and can't keep it on the wheels (which a .28 will make it harder to do) go for the .28.
