If the battery is not plugged in to the system, it can't be drawn down by anything in that system.

Whatever......it's your money and cells you are risking so have the hell at it in wantever manner blows your dress up.

So what's the difference?

Rather than play the role of jaded expert who's tired of explaining the obvious to clueless knobs, thrall us with your acumen professor and explain what would put a battery at risk in a receiver box with a switch between the cells and the potential load, while a starter box with a switch between the battery and potential load is no problem at all.

555. The push down contact switch in a starter box is positively disengaged. There is an air gap so as to not have physical contact. And the on/off switches have a very, very tiny amount of current when off. Very slightly though. Over time they can drain the battery.

I think I fried my OFNA chrome top - I had a maxamps 6000mah 4 cell. I think you have to have a low mah pack if you're gonna run a lipo

The pack will only deliver what the load asks for. It's not gonna cram 120 amps into your box just because it capable of delivering that much.....and if your box is pulling 120 amps, then you would have smoked a lower mah pack anyhow. I'd look for another cause.

I went lipo for the convenience, charge during the week and race sunday... I dont have to spend Saturday night charging batts, I can charge at my leisure. Time is money, specially when you are a working man!!! plus if you source them right they are cheaper than a gel cel!!!

I have a 1 amp motorcycle battery charger for my gel cell. It was less than $10 at Wal-Mart. A 1 hour charge will last me all day at the track. My box will start anything.
