NO.

I just bought two 1 gallon 20% o'donnell today. I saw my LHS still has more than 20 cans of o'donnell 1 gallon in stocks.

The other RC shops scattered in Jakarta, Indonesia still has at least 20 cans of Tornado 16%, and Side Winder 25%, O'donnell 25%. There are other RC offroad shops are selling Byron 30% and Trinity too.

I guess it depends on the shop owner.

Nevertheless the price has gone up.

If there's a shortage, I sure haven't seen it.

Unfortunately that is not the case for us. Our local hobby shope (Airland) here in SoCal will not be getting any future shipments of Byron's for the rest of the summer. However, they do have plenty of the Werks, Nitrotane and Sidewinder. Now that means that I have to switch to a different fuel BUT, I can still run 30% nitro for the rest of the summer until the factory in Bejing reopens.

There is a shortage of Nitro !!! The popular brands will be harder to get because there's more of it being used. You will probably be able to find 30% nitro at some shops that either do not sell alot of nitro or at shops that maintain a large inventory. I'm sure some blenders will continue to make 30% regardless. But what are they going to do when they can't get anymore nitro?? No one knows for sure when the production of nitro will resume. There was an earthquake in China back in May that killed 10,000 people. This quake could have damaged some of the chemical plants beyond repair. I'm not saying thats the problem but it's a possibility. Byrons will discontinue production of 30% so that their nitro will go further. 1000 gal of nitro will make 3,333 gal of 30% nitro or make 5,000 gal. of 20% nitro. I would much rather run 20% and be able to race, than sit at home wishing I had some nitro so I could go racing.

Well my LHS jacked the price since I last checked $27 "Thursday" to $35 a Gallon. I just placed an order online for a case of Byrons 30% Gen2 for $121 or $30 a gallon including shipping and Hazmat fees.

I've got over a grand in my ride and my boy has even more in his. Times that by however many people are running race quality rides. Now will all these companies making all these dollars just stop because there is no nitro ? No, they'll make sure you have nitro so they can stay in business. What good is a 3 to 5 hundred dollar engine sitting on your shelf ? It would cripple the entire R/C industry and i don't see that happening over a $30.00 gallon of fuel. Tracks, stores, websites, R/C companies, all laying down and going out of business because of China ? I don't know how nitro is made but if there is money to be made in any industry, someone will find a way to make it.
My LHS has plenty of Byron's and his price only went up $ 2.00 because it's the Gen2 (new) and shipping has gone up.
In my opinion, there will still be nitro.

i havent been able to confirm it, but here in aus (and i would assume worldwide) pure nitro by itself is set to rise about $5 a litre, when it is already about $16

the reason i heard is because the the factory of the worlds biggest refiner of nitro was decimated in the floods in china in the past month or so

has anybody heard similar rumours?

Randomness is fun.!!!

At our track. I get about 6-10 race days on a set (only used for racing), then another set for practice.

Nitro vs. Electric?

The answer is they are both as cheap or as expensive as you want to make them. You can run the same set of tires for weeks, or you can run a new set every run. Its up to YOU, its not a cost inherent in the kind of car people run.

Stopped in a different hobby shop and they had Byrons GEN2 @ $24.00 a gal. There's no shortage of rumors if you ask me.
