Good motor for a buggy, but a bit underpowered on the bottom-end for a truggy...just my personal experience...

Not sure what the above poster is referring to, or what truggy he is running, but the GRP 21 in a newer generation truggy (strr, xray, 8t, etc), is more then enough power for almost any track. The GRP 21 powered truggies on the tracks I run at are the fastest trucks out there. I have run Nova 21-5kt, Nova P5, Ninja, Vspec, Max Power M5, and now the GRP in my STRR, and the GRP is the fastest motor I have run (as well as 10 minute runtimes, 190-200 degree temps, linear powerband and it revs forever..

For the OP, the OS 28 is a beast and IMO it is too much motor for most anyone on a track, unless you are the top dog in the A main. I see a lot of people trying to run it, and they are quite a bit slower around the track, but they sure like the power (but the rear tires don't, or the clutches, or the drivetrain). I do like the Ninja or GRP 28, as the powerband is a little smoother then the OS's (less bottom end), but I am still faster with a 21, so that is what I use. IMO the RB928 and RB728 are not really suitable for track use, unless you have mad traction and have a lot of short runups to some big doubles/triples...the powerband is like a lightswitch imo

if you are racing truggy, I seen the new trinity extech engines race they make a .24 that thing is insane fast. and it is massaged by ed bridges.

I raced the RB 928 all last season. It is a hell of an engine. It is overkill in 90% of the racing that I did. I only used 1/4 throttle for most of the tracks. I do have to agree that the power is like "a light switch" off or wide open! I took third place in the seasons points and had a hell of a time playing with it. It is one of the most ferocious.28's out there by very far. This season, I have retired it because of most tracks have changed their formats. Im running a C6bb7t .21 and that acts just like a RB .28 but on sedatives. Don't count RB. 28 out for the best.

There is something that is funny about this thread. Most of us that raced .28 went to a high powered .21 and do much better!

well a .28 is overkill in most cases and if your car is setup right for the track you're on and has a good tune a .21 will get you around just as well or faster depending on your throttle finger also you can get better fuel milage which is why the pro's run the .21's i am no pro yet so i do run .28's as well as a good .21 however right now i only have 1 good .21 and that's on the buggy so the werks .28 has a home on the losi
