Hi there,

I bought a set of Hobao Hex drivers about 12 months ago and they are now well and truely worn out - to the point that they damage anu hex screw that I try and remove with them. As all the handles are good, I though I would just replace the tips, but there is a huge selection on Amain to choose from.

My question is - If I'm after a quality tip to replace the hobao set, what do you recommend?

If you grind a few mm off the worn tips of your
drivers they should be good as new again. You can
freshen the tips up many times before you have
have to replace them.

not on real driver's....the tip is only 3-4mm tall...so if u strip it...ur down to about 1-2mm of actual head which wont cut it.,....regular old alen keys u can do this with...but driver's wont take it.

Coopertrooper....ive used the cheep of the cheep Integy...to the Fancy of the fancy Hudy......IMo the hudy is Hardcore Overprices for what ur getting and not worth it.... the integy's are Just as good imo and at 1/4 the price..its hard to justify 150$ on 7-8 driver's.....especially the ones u Barely EVER use....ive also used the Mugen, dynamite and Losi tools which are all awsome....they all have there specific jobs on my trucks...as some tips fit better hex's then other's.

integy tools are the shiznit.

nice handles and ti-nitride tips. Not overpriced either.

the Associated factory team tools are good too, but it seems as though the tips are a little softer.

I myself have the losi wrenches, they are pretty good but I think nothing comes close to mip wrenches. I have had a 2.0mm and a 3/32 mip throp wrench for over 10 years, and they still are the best I have ever used, even better than hudy imo.

I've been using a set of Integy drivers for a long time.

The 2mm and 2.5mm get a lot of use. My helicopters use a TON of those fasteners. I also share them with my roommate who is always wrenching on his 1/8 buggy.

So far they've lasted a long time. Never stripped a screw head with them unless it was a cheap crappy screw.

Can't comment on the others as I've never used them. Just stay away from the Craftsman L-shaped drivers

Agreed Tony, the good old thorp (now MIP) wrenches are the best ever. All the Hudy guys may laugh at their plastic handles but the tips last forever, are hard to break and palm isn't sore for a month after building a new car.

Hudy would be my last choice. Sure they look nice but are overpriced and IMHO not as good as others. And yes, I have some Hudy wrenches so I speak from experience.
