Well I heard from a couple of people at my local track that they can't get the 808 to handle the rough, so maybe that was his problem.

People do not have issues with the Losi breaking.... it is more an issue of excessive wear on the parts. I got the 808 because it looked similar to a losi and would have the higher quality plastics etc from xray. As far as the driving goes, the car is much more stable and has more steering imo. As far as the rough stuff goes, i saw no issues when racing at my local track with my 808.

Well I don't know what some people call excessive, but my 8ight still has no slop in the steering and I still haven't had to replace anything. I drive the crap out of it too.
