Default cheap but good engine

hey guys I have an old a GS racing storm 1/8 scale buggy I wanted to get running the stock rtr motor is shot. I'm looking for a dirt cheap engine but not something that is going to tank on me 2 gal later or is going to be a pain to tune.. anyone have any recommandations? this car will only be for bashing so size really isn't an issue. the motor doesn't have to be balls out fast i'm looking for something that is more on the solid side and doesn't require a ton of tuning.

Heres what I would run on a budget. Its hard to beat the O.S. engines, they are tried and true.

Best bet is choose something that is been tried and tested Nova or OS, the GO is a good engine but the carb does have issues and is a bit hit & miss.

For cheap decent motors look at OFNA hyper series motors that come in there RTR kits or even the BO3 motors that come in the GS RTR kits.
These engines should retail around $100
If you can budget a bit more look at what teh guys have suggested above and also look at the Axe Sport which is excellent value and performance for around or under $200.
Cheapest motors you are going to find though are from RTR kits so check out Ebay too as guys strip kits and sell of the parts seperately.

I'm a big fan of Go Ekgines. But you will not find an easier to tune engine than the Sportwerks .21v2. Very underestimated engine IMO.

I would spend a little extra and buy a Jammin JPX .21.......it is likely the fastest .21 on the market today..it will kill the Go engines and all of the current Nova's,RB's and OS mills......... it is made by Picco, it costs $220.00 and its an absolute beast of a .21.....

I just bought 2 Sirio CL7B STI engines in hopes to find an even stronger .21, XRC tested the CL7B at 1.8 HP and 70 oz/in, the strongest .21 ever tested............. Well let me tell you the Sirio doesn't hold a candle to the Jammin motor, the Sirio is lkikely a dam good track engine, as its very smooth and mellow.... But driving both back to back the Picco feels much stronger with a way better top end.....I bought the Sirio looking for a beast, and it ends up its a sheep in beasts clothing........... I like motors that hit hard, when I squeeeze the trigger I want to feel it, not wait for it....... If you like ultra smooth then the Sirio is great, but it doesn't have anywhere near the punch of the JPX

dude, make up your mind, last week you said the sirio was the fastest .21 on the market, and kill a go engine, please. if thhats the case why would you choose to invest in 6, 7 port GO engines.

Nv529, look on the post with people running what you may want to get, they will give the best info, as for what i would recommend, the new 08 GO 3R for the price to performance factor, can't beat it.

Wink My 2 cents...

Sportworks/Dynamite Engines are some of the best we have seen for the money at any pricepoint. I am at 3+ gallons on my current one and am choosing it over my P5, RB and JP engines to run at theNats this week.
These engines are strong and have killer run times. At the last RC Pro Series I was at 11.5 mins. Every one of these we have seen get 9+ gallons before they need a rebuild. They come with the restrictors you will need as well.
At $180 - $195 they are hard to beat.
