I tried the shrink wrap thing and found terrible shock action, ballons will retain air pressure during shock travel so I poke holes each end with a push pin and they seem to work reasonably well and you can't beat the price.

X2 on the shrink idea...that would 100% Dumb down the action of the spring....if u shrinked it TOO much you would be Choking the spring...Not a good idea imo.

If you use the right ballons they will not affect the droop. And if your gonna poke some holes in it your just defeating the purpose of having them in the first place, to keep dirt out. I have been using the balloons that TKO sells and recently found the same ones on ebay. They are not your regular party ballons you get at the dollar store they are 260 qualatex and are very durable.

if u dont poke breather holes in them they Puff up like ballons on full droop and also suck on the shaft when u try to go full extention...why do most boots have holes in them then.

A small slice in the boot is a good thing a hole will let dirt in depending on the size of the hole . I started to put a small slice in mine because it will stay closed until shock compression has started, then it will open . It has worked very nicely for me...

thats a good idea....but i would think just like tires....a slit will rip easier then a purfect hole will....but maby not.

i use the animal baloons as well with great success.... No holes or slits just cut them to length and put them on. Yes they do limit compression travel, but we're talking 1-2mm max and from what i've seen they act more like bump stops so ur shocks dont bottom out hard.... Not that mine do, the chassis hits the ground before that happens. Poeple will have there opinions for and against the same as every other product/idea in rc, that's what makes it so much fun!

Balloons are all good IMO, if you like them, use them........

well on full compression if you poke hole in them with hobby knife to relieve air they get full compression igleast on xray they do your shock doesnt compress fully before the chassis slaps so the 1/16th inch comp. you loose wont hurt
also tko makes bag of 100 black ballons for like 12 bucks

I use Rocket balloons, they taper down at the bottom and fit over the ball end just like a regular shock boot does. I cut them to length and use a O-ring to hold them on to the shock body. A pack of 5 is a buck at Wal-Mart.
