I have changed many flywheels using the clamp I posted. Never had one little problem.

I would not recomending hitting, tapping, wrenching with pliers or forcing a flywheel off. You not only take a chance of screwing up the outer shaft of the crank you also take a chance of screwing up the racer on your front engine bearing.

I haven't a clue of how someone could screw up a crankshaft using a tool that was invented to take objects off of a shaft.

For those of you that do not have the proper wrench that wraps or fits onto the posts of the flywheel, get one, they are cheap and save you time , headaches , energy and in the long run $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you can gently" tap " your flywheel off the collet with the handle of of a screw driver you either

A did not have it tight enough to start with
B the wrong size collet for that particular flywheel.

They do come in various sizes folks for the people that did not know that and for the most part, each manufacturers Flywheel is a little different size. Some are almost identical but others are like day and night on the size collet needed. Good luck and happy racing.
