Default Common for the exhaust to melt the rock guard?

I got a 086 for my 8ight/Go 3 sport. After running 2 heats and a main yesterday I noticed that the pipe melted a notch in the side of my rock guard and again where the bottom of the pipe sits..

I temped in-between 230 - 260 yesterday, which I wouldn't think would be that hot. I had good smoke the entire main.

So is this normal, should I just stock up on rock guards?

dremel where it blatently touches...and make the pipe sit a couple mm's off the chassy....Push on it to make sure it wont "slap" the chassy..and u should'nt have an issue.

That is correct you can raise the exhaust height but sometimes this is also caused by the exhaust getting very hot when you are running a bigger head clearance.
I noticed this on a customers buggy and shortly afterwords reading a post that was in reply to my question on another forum.
When some motor are bought they come with extra clearance or a extra shim and this extra one is to be removed after runnin.

generally speaking for a true 25% nitro you would use between .4 to .6 and 30% .6 to .9

But its a balance really , Reducing compression ( increasing shimming) reduces power but helps idle. it also encourages heat to escape through the pipe as opposed to being released through the head. You will notice people with melted bodies over the pipe and melted tanks would generally have more shims.

Id recommend going with 25% nitro and using standard shimming , say .5 "
