The new Novak Conversion kit Mugen MBX5 will work for both.

Here are the links for instructions, motor suggestions and pinions for the 10 new nitro to electric conversion kits:

CLEAN UP AND GO BRUSHLESS

We began shipping the new kits last week.

I forwarded your battery question to Bob.

Is there member interest in this nitro forum for an "Official" Novak 1/8 Nitro to Electric conversion thread?

If so, I can start one and have Bob monitor the questions and suggestions. It's much easier for him if we can "corral" all the comments in one place.

Yes please do start a thread.

I'm going to get another new buggy in the near future but rather than give my trusty old 5R away. I'll convert it just to goof around with and do some club racing. If I can figure out how to get a solid 15 minutes run time Im golden for club racing.

We have a guy running a Kyosho STRR conversion locally and it's very fast.

Any Brand of 2S Lipo battery that measures less than 141mm (5.55") long x 46mm (1.81") wide X 32mm (1.26") high will fit in each Battery Box.
We have been using two Max Amp 4000 Mah 2S Lipo packs in our testing. This of course is for the Buggies that use the single Battery Box. The Kyosho Inferno series and the Ofna 9.5/ Ultra series Buggies that can use two Battery Boxes would of course be able to use 4 of these 2S packs or two of the 8000 Mah 2S packs. This will give you twice the run time but it will add more weight.

Randy,

I've been running a brushless MBX5R. Bess tested it in R/C Car back in the March issue. I took it with me to Silver State and Bobby Tillman had a chance to run a few laps with it. If you need any help, please feel free to drop me an email.

Just a few words of advice: One you run one you may not like nitro anymore.....LOL

j/k (sort of). I still like running nitro, just not as much as I used to.

Best regards,
