Default Go 3 Port Race compared to N21B

I would like to get feedback on comparing the Go 3 port R spec engine to the Novarossi N21B engine.

How do the powerbands compare? (Low, mid, and high end) Does the Go 3 port R spec have more top end power than the N21B?

Which engine has better realiability? Has anyone had concerns with the realiability of the Go engine?

I would plan on running Tilted 30% fuel. How does the Go run with Tilted? Is the Go fairly easy to tune.

I had 2 Novarossi Bf's, both were great motors. They have alot of bottom end but really don't pull on top at all. They use a cheaper crank and rod than all the other Nova's also, don't quite last as long as there better motors.

I really love my Go 3 port race, it's really smooth, maybe not as much right on the bottom but middle and top it kills the Nova.

For the money the Go is a better engine. I have not ran the 3 port sport but I would compare that to the Nova N21b. But the Go sport uses the same block, crank, rod, piston as all there engines with less fancy cuts in the sleeve.

Make sure to state which N21B motor your comparing, as there is early and later versions with different bore and stroke.

yes thats right there are two versions of the n21 and one has been phased out with different bore and stroke .one is with a small head heatsink and the new one is with the big head heatsink.The N21 is a great motor with alot of bottom end but you can also get top and mid range by playing with pipes and glow plugs .

I have never tried the the G0 3 port but im sure left alone with no mods they would be a great engine.

Me id go the Nova as i know the engine .PLus Nova is known to use to quality materials

if you put a 21-5 carb on the N21B 2001 it really gives the engine more top end. it wont hang with the GRPs and 367s and CRFs but it will definitely not be that slow on top.

Yes, the engine is the newer big head N21B 2001. I also have a carb from the Novarossi P5XS on it.

I have also done some porting work recently. I have only tested it on the street so far, but it seems like it woke up the top end some. I will not know for sure, until I run it on the track. I was just happy that I did not mess it up and cause it to run worse.

Overall, I like the engine, but I was just wondering how it compared to the 3 Port Go engine.

Is that the Novarossi 2001bf 3 port engine? If so i wrote a review on it that can be read HERE. Not too great at being a trainspotter with model numbers on engines i'm afraid!

First used it in a 5 hour endurence race

the old n21 and 3 port sport feel almost identical, they both a a fast spool up and great bottom but lack a bit on top, the newer n21 i have not ran, but as for the 3 port race, with the correct pipe has killer bottom and more top than both, i only run modded GO's and the stock race is still steller, on a 180 FT strait the race pulls the entire way. 6 gallons is what i have on the modded 3 port, and i am going to put new bearings in it and run it till it pukes, the rod journal is at 4.98 and 4.96 is the smallest diamiter, so metal quality is very good, and the rod will stay in, the GO engine has one of the strongest rods i have seen in a motor at this price, not taking anything away from the nova, but GO's are all i have ran for 2 years, i have no reason to buy more expensive engines. Just my 2 cents

This is a little off-subject but, Are there any aftermarket cooling heads that will fit Go's? Im getting tired of the blue wearing off the top of my 3 sport

So when was the Nova 3 port changed? Was it 2001 like the box would suggest?
