Default AMBrc Monopoly...

Its just not right that we need to use only 1 product for rc racing... I think other RC or Hobby based companies need to start coming up with some cometition for AMB.... Hey always raise thier prices.. with another 1 on the way by end of summer... they are gonna be 120+ a piece by the end of next year.. This would be like if only 1 company made servos.. but the never got better and they price kept going up... Who else thinks that this needs to be adressed, or am I just a complainer??

there is another company who makes lap counters, they just dont catch on as much, too many people have a AMB and they arent cross compatible.

the problem is that amb has "the list" off all the numbers for transponders. other companies make transponders but they must be 'cloned' from an amb unit.

thats a main reason why I have stayed away from racing till now, if track offers to give them out before the race thats cool, but paying $100+ for a transponder is not, I remember when they were $70 and I was like...man they are alot, well i should have bought one then...

Not that I think amb pricing is right, but let me get this straight.....

To go racing you were/are happy to pay

$400+ plus for a Buggy
$300ish for a motor
$200ish for a Handset
$150min for servo's

Plus alot of other essentials I havent listed, But the extra $100 so you know what laps your turning, where you finished the races etc's is just too much ??

I think what your trying to say is you'd rather spend your money on more bling for your ride which you think makes it look cool ??

I'd love the essentials to be for free, that way I could spend fortunes on the stuff I want too.

I think what most think is that for what your getting, $115 is a lot. If it were $50, thats OK. Think about, out of all the electronics you buy, this part does the least work (has no moving parts) and the case is fragile as hell.

its not what I had to pay, its what its worth and your paying for...

rather you pay $100 for a tv dinner or $100 for an all you can eat buffet?

the fact that your paying $100 for something like that makes it hard to buy, dropping $200 on an engine is find because you are getting a good engine and a power house, $400 on a kit is fine because you get alot for $400, but $100 for a device thats smaller than a $.50 coin is hard to spend, Im not saying its not worth it, its harder to push my self to buying it.

A small receiver or DSM micro receiver is just about as expensive as an AMB PT. It also just sits there and looks like it's doing nothing. Hard to run without one of those either.

Have I put it in perspective for ya yet?

If not, just think about all the people that spend $70+ each for Nimh batteries and you need 5-6 just for one day of racing, and they don't last anywhere near as long as that PT or receiver will.

There are other transponders out there, not compatible with each other, and also expensive. And I think AMB is WAY OVER priced ! I'm a track owner and run the races and am held hostage to these damned AMB units !!
If I change to something different ,then everyonoe needs to change transponders and that would be the response . So the delema grows!

Think about if AMBrc colaborated with the big name buggy makers and the TP were included in the kits. Or @ least make a diff color!?

if you think the amb personals are expensive, you should check out the handout ones! a track pays $1000+ for a set of those rechargeable ones, so ive been told.

if you can spend 1800-2000 dollars on a quality race setup, then you should have no complaints spending 100 dollars for a pt.it is a requirement at most tracks to have one just like an engine/motor is required to race. just my .02
