Default How to clean up a motor?

My brother gave me an old but in really excellent conditiono Rustler .15 Pro is what I think it is. Anyway there was a lot of excess fuel/crap all over the motor. I used to have an 18th scale truck and took the motor apart and what not to see how it works.

Anyway I took the motor out, took it apart (except for the nut under the clutch, its a PITA right now) and want to completely clean this mofo to see if it will still work. Whats the best product to use? Im trying to keep this thing as cheap as possible because in the end I will probably just end selling it. It has that electric start thing on it as well, but I think you can start it with a normal box because the flywheel hangs under the chassis.

I used some WD-40, carb cleaner, and a toothbrush and hard bristle. It came out pretty good actually. Looks very clean.
