Default Pro Off Road Drivers and their Frequency Choice

I had this in the radio forum but it's dead
and this is still nitro off road related

At the Off Road JBRL race, I noticed that a lot of the Pro/expert class drivers (Drake, Truhe, ETC) were still using FM.

Why is that when 2.4 stuff claims to be faster, glitch & crystal free, no interference?

I have a 2.4 fasst in my nitro car for club and JBRL racin and it has worked flawlessly. is there an advantage that FM has that i'm missing?

when i talked to Rick McCreary at the Nats this year he told me basically u Dont HAVE To run 2.4 nowadays at the bigger race events for the fact 99% of guys are on 2.4.....So therefor that leave's a whopping like 30+channels for them to choose from....I hear ya on the 2.4 being faster glitch free n what not...So i personally too dont reallllly get why they do that...but they do....and thats 1 of the reasons.

Just a guess, but maybe they've been using those same radios for years and they feel most comfortable in their hands? But they make diff modules for some of the older radios so I don't know...

I have read in another thread that the drivers " Feel more connected" to their cars with FM radios. They say that there is a lag with 2.4 Ghz transmitters (though most of us don't notice). I think the pros are able to detect that few milliseconds of lag time and they rather have the precise feel and faster response time of a FM radio.

The reason why some guys don't use 2.4 is because it is not always reliable. Certain brands tend to have more issues then others. Just look at pictures of the Amain drivers stand at a big race to see who is running 2.4 and who isnt. Then you will see what brand 2.4's are having issues. Which I know the answer but I'll keep my mouth shut

I hear those 27Mhz half channels are a nice way to go...until someone else is on the same illegal one, then you don't get to start the race you just TQ'd while Saxton screams in your ear.
