Default Narrowed it down!

Ok.

As you may know I am trying to find a new truggy to race with and do a little bashing.
I have looked at them all and thought about it and I have narrowed it down to these 4 choices.

Mugen MBX5T Prospec
Xray XT8 Luxury
Ofna Jammin X1X CRT
Losi 8ight Pro Roller.

I really cant decide though, I really like the Mugen, I have seen the Mugen sedans and they are tanks, but I don't know if its an older kit and something newer and better is out by some other company, or if Mugen does better at their on-roads than their off-roads.

I am looking for the best handling, fastest, and most durable out of this group.

and at $599 the XT8 would be my price limit.

1)mugen mbx5t (is a tank, the prospec version is loaded with hop ups)
2)xray xt8 (great truck but has less features than the mugen at more of a price)
3)x1x dont know much about these, but their old ones wore out pretty fast. They held up good but wore out fast(universals especially)
4)losi (handles good but wear is definately an issue)

Rated from1 being the best and 4 being the worst.

yea the ofna looks nice, but things on it makes no sense, like why have aluminum wheel axles on plastic hub carriers? the mugen has aluminum everything right there...

the Xray looks like its loaded with tons of goodies.

the mugen looks great, looks of aluminum and titianium, but somethings I dont like either. Like its the only truck out of the bunch with a 3 shoe clutch not a 4 shoe clutch.

I want to sleep on it some more,

anyone know the release dates on these cars? that is something I always considering in buying.

I just took a look through ebay for mbxt prospec parts and I think that just convinced me to buy one, the amount of parts and their prices I can get is rediculous.

I have 3 questions though,

When was the prospec version released? (I dont want to buy one have a new one come out a month later)

Is there a big bore upgrade kit for the Prospec edition?

Is there a 4 shoe clutch upgrade for the prospec?

The only truck out of your choices with a 4 shoe clutch is the losi. The rest all have a 3 shoe set up .If price is the major factor here the mugen mbx5T pro is the choice.

only thing I am worried about is the Mugen is the cheapest out of the bunch, Im used to the mugen being the most expensive in on-road, am i still getting a great truck in the mugen? or am I flushing $500 down the toilet?

now there is NO upgrade to a 4 shoe clutch for the mugen?

and what about the big bore shocks, I see even the prospec doesnt come with them.

I would say there is no need to upgrade to a 4 shoe ,and the current shocks are great .Im sure mugen will upgrade things down the road ,and they will fit right on the truck .I have 2 friends with the mbx5t pro and they both are very fast on the track ,I have gotten alot of great feed back from both.

I think the Jammin is coming out shortly, but the Mugen I don't think so.

I have had a Mugen 5T a losi 8 T and now i have a Hyper st pro.

Mugen....Real good truck...parts very expensive never had a real problem with it

Losi....Drives different than my style...Parts WEAR faster than others..

Hyper st pro... Heavy tank turns so good its not fair...takes a real beating...

So far I like the hyper.....But if you are going from one on the list I would get the mugen....

Also what does your local shop carry???

regards

If you want to upgrade to a 4 shoe clutch on the mugen, you can't go past the Werks racing clutch... It's fully adjustable (unlike a standard 3 shoe), comes with 3 different size springs for more tunability and there is 3 different compound shoes available so you can tune it even further! I haven't seen any clutch with more adjustment!

Definitely worth considering IMO

I would go for the mugen. The parts might be more expensive but you wont need to buy them too often.
