what would make the springs break? i have broken one spring in each of the last two weekends (total of two springs). they were brand new mugen 1.0 springs with mugen aluminum shoes that are also brand new. they were installed correctly just never had an issue with springs like this.

I have had the same problem with their springs. I was not using aluminum shoes, but the Mugen carbon shoes. One thing could be heat related or material used to make the springs.

I have had several customers with the same complaints on the Mugen springs. Every one of them have switched to the Ofna springs and have not had a problem since.
Just a suggestion.

i have used their springs for the past 2 years and never had a problem with them... the thing is that i NEVER put back the same springs when they are out, even if they are still in good condition... my opinion is that they are cheap enough to be replaced and not cause you your race...

Ive had the same problem with mugen 1.1 springs brand new, 1 race and two broken springs using mugen silver alloy shoes and mugen CB.

Not real fond of these springs, the the last set seem to be holding up pretty well but IMO not reliable enough if racing, shame cause they work pretty good when they are in one piece.

thanks guys, i've switched to the fioroni turbo twin sliding clutch..i just have one more problem...it seem real boggy on the bottom...any more suggestions?

Use the hard springs

They let the motor rev up more before the clutch engages.

reguardless of which clutch set-up you use, it will bogg under acceleration if it engauges too early. For maximum acceleration you want the clutch to engauge just as the engine comes "on pipe".

You should see good smoke from the exhaust at the point when the clutch hooks up.

after some further ivestigating, the clutch shoes are rubbing on the cb when the engine is not running so any rpm and the shoes engage the cb...would it be ok to trim the carbon shoes to get more clearance?

the Fiorono Twin Turbo clutch is JUNK IN YO TRUNK....seriously its JUNK.....u cant load up the shoes with enuff springs before the shoes want to collapse on themselve's.....it will ALWAYS have a boggy bottom end and its NOT the motor....Get the 2 shoe shoes...and get a pack of hard springs as stated and use 1 hard on the bottom deep spring seet and 2 normal springs and u should be good to go.....consider it a 35$ lesson learned.

If I understand correctly, there was a bad batch of Mugen springs... I don't know if this is resolved or not. In the past there were no problems like this, but my bud has broken a couple also recently.

buckeye, your twin turbo clutch is an excellent clutch. what clutchbell are you using? are the shoes properly fitted in the flywheel? I use this clutch in my IGT car and I also have one in my buggy (the one in the buggy is a mix of black and white shoes, standard and stiff springs) and I have had great results with both. If you assemble the shoes properly, they will work just fine, and it will not have a boggy bottom end. If you need help, send me a PM.
