Default Starting Problem

Hey guys,

I need some help with my HPI 3.0 engine. I was driving around, spun the tires on some sand and it died.
Since then, I've been trying to get it started again and its quite frustrating.
It was running fine for a couple tanks before this.

Plug - Good
Fuel - Flowing from tank through engine, out exhaust.
Air - Good, taken filter off now.

I've taken the cooling head off, there is no visible damage to the piston/sleeve.
The pullstart is turning the engine over, fly wheel is spinning.

Mixture settings reset to stock. Shouldn't be a problem since I didn't have any problems before this.

There's been almost 1 gallon through it and I warm it up well before starting.

I'm stumped on this, any help/tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

check your glowplug and ignitor one more time, if it still wont start its in the tune. Only two things it can be. That or P/S is worn out. Only things it can be.

The igniter and plug are good. I tried a new plug and it still won't start.
It should be starting up with the mixture settings I have now.

Could be something wrong in the carb, though it looks fine from the outside?

Also, there is still good pinch when rotating the flywheel.
I'm going to try it some more later. Thanks.

Try totally removing your HSN. Turn the motor over until fuel comes out of the top of the HSN. This is to try to flush any debris out of there. Reset your HSN. Try again. If this doesn't work, make sure your back plate and carburetor don't have an air leak.

Ok, I tried that with no luck.

There's a sound it's making when I have the igniter connected and pull-starting. It's a pinging sound.

It only happens when the igniter is connected. When I turn it over without the igniter it sounds normal.

What could this be a sign of?
Perhaps, my sleeve has lost it's pinch and the piston is going too far up?

Man i wish i could help you out more, but i am horrible at trouble shooting nitro engines without it being in front of me. I have no clue what the pinging sound could be.

i think it's better to disassemble your engine and carb, check for any damage and clean every parts properly, make sure the carb is not clogging and also check your pull start one way bearing make sure it's not slipping.

I would check the clutch.

Make sure that the clutch nut is tight, the spring(s) arent broken, and the cearings in the clutch bell arent fried.

I still don't know what it is, but I just grabbed it cold, without adjusting anything and it started up for a few seconds.

I haven't taken the clutch apart, but the clutch did engage when it started.
I'm going to tinker with it some more.
