OSRocket or NovaRC head for N21B?

I am currently running a Novarossi N21B engine. I really like the engine (especially considering the price) but the head seems small. I would like to use a differnet head so the engine will run cooler.

Has anyone used either the OSRocket or NovaRC head? If so, could you please give feedback on if these heads are really effective in reducing temps. The NovaRC head seems really big. I would also think the head is quite a bit heavier than a normal head. I am not sure if this is a concern or not.

I was also considering installing a head from a Novarossi P5XS.

Do the OSRocket heads have good performance though for reducing the temps?

If the engine is running fine, you don't need to put oversized head on the engine. It will make it difficult to tune, and you may damage the engine by running too lean even though the temp is reading cool. I would not recommend it unless you are a very experienced tuner.

I put an OD head on my os, the engine was very difficult to tune.

If you want to run a little cooler and a little more power, you can run 25% or 30%.

+1

Changing the cooling head for the sake of "looks" vs. "performance", can lead to problems as stated in the post below.

I believe in the use of cooling heads as a tuning tool. I have a couple different cooling heads which I use when the temps get close to or over 100 degrees in this area. Otherwise, I just use the stockers...

Now if you just want "bling"....

I guess if your method of tuning is chasing temps, then maybe it wont be a good idea to run an after market cooling head.

as long as you tune for performance, i personally dont see how an after market cooling head could cause you to ruin any engine.

on my Nova 3 port i installed a P5X cooling head, on certain days i had higher temp readings than others, all depended on the amount of humidity, not so much how hot or cold it was outside.

i say if you arent up to snuff on tuning, a cooling head is probably the last thing you need to worry about. jmho

Save the $40 and put it towards your next engine. Aftermarket heads look good and do lower the temps, but most people see that because they lower the temps, go and lean the piss out of it, shortening it's life.

I'm doing just fine with my stock OS RG.
