Default Jamin 21 motors ,What are you opinions??

Hi im thinking of getting a spare motor for my H8. I have a modded v spec and goes really well but wont last to much longer on its 7 ltr.
Was thinking of getting another v spec but there are a lot of choice. I need a motor that puts out good power and easy to tune like the v spec.
I have herd that the Jamin is good and bad so what do others think.
Thanks...

My JPX .21 was perfect from day one! So easy to tune and super performance!

The JPX .21 is an awesome mill! I have had absolutely no problems. I run it with the JP3 pipe in a Kyosho ST-RR. The power delivery is awesome.

7 ltr's through it? That's not even two gallons. Unless you've abused that thing you've got alot of life left in that V-Spec.

But the Jammin motor is a great back up. They don't have the runtime that some of the other motors get but they throw down great power.

these are great motors, especially for the price!! i have no complaints at all. bought one as a back up in february but i haven't used any other motor since because i like the motor that much (i have an rb, os speed, & vspec in my arsenal). about two gallons thru it and i am still amazed on how much compression it has. i run a jp3 with os p3 plugs, seems like a good set-up. as long as i had a good tune on the motor, i never had issues on the track as far as having enough power to keep up with the competition. i heard they have bearing issues but i havent had a prob. i would definately buy again. hope this helps...

Only thing is keep an eye on the bearings. My piston and sleeve were fine but the bearing were shot. It was after 7 gallons or so but it happened to a few of them here.

That being said, alot of guys for racing will go ceramic anyway. Then you shouldn't need to worry about it.

Love it, run mine in my Hper 8.5 and the thing is a beast. I can keep up with the Vspecs and the Rossi's for the most part. A lot of bottom end grunt.

I have about a gallon of fuel through mine and it still pinches quite a bit at the top of the stroke but is really starting to come around. not quite as much bottom end as the p5x I ran last year but has top end all over the novarossi. all that bottom end was pretty much wasted on wheelspin anyway. this motor is a top end screamer with an 086 pipe!

7 gallons of use on such a high RPM motor is very good for original bearings....I usually change mine out much sooner then that..... These mills seem to hold a good sleeve pinch for an extremely long time, very good metallurgy

Well I just broke mine in and have about 2/3 of a gallon through it and my only complaint is that I ended up having to buy a new starter box due to the fact that the motor is so damn tight. I have to use a heat pretty much everytime I had to start the engine for the first time after letting it cool down.

I have a video of one of the JPX .21's that I have modified... this is a video one of my customers shot after a weekend of racing... believe it or not but in this video the clutch has 2 broken springs, so the clutch shoes were hanging up pretty bad... Yet the motor would still idle and had decent bottom end...anyways here is the video

I have seem them run and so far they seem to be on par with motors costing much more. If I remember right they are supposedly based (in part or mostly all) on the Picco P7's, I know I read that somewhere, but no clue on where though. Maximo may be able to answer that one.

Thanks all ,
Well I think I might get one . I have read a few bad things about them else where but seems no negative feed back here which is good.
