Default 8ight-t RTR bump start conversion

I apologize up front, I know this has to have been posted before, but I simply can not get a key word defined that prevents me from cruising through a million threads to find it. It's a quick question.

I just bought a Losi starter box and back plate to convert my 8ight-t RTR 427 engine to a bump starter.

Do I need new motor mounts or any other mods?

Again, apologies up front for a dup post. Thanks!

You just need the regular engine mounts and should be gtg. What back plate did you get?

The motor mounts should do it, but I had to dremel a little material from my Kit to get it to work easily.

yes grab yourself a dremel with a cut off wheel. pull the crank out of the engine and FAR from the rest of the engine. then grab your con rod/piston and mount it on the crank you will see where the rod rides the crank then you will see excess off the crank pin that is what you will dremel off very quick and easy just cut it out and make sure its flat(and wont rub the back plate). you may also need to dremel the chassis where the flywheel and starter box wheel meet I think on the RTR versions its not "beveld" or opend enough

good luck not too hard just make sure you dont get any debris in the engine after cuting the pin!

No, you shouldn't have to mod anything. Just throw the back plate on. Thats the first Ive heard about having to mod the crank pin.

I'll throw it on, if it rubs out comes the cut off wheel . I'll check play with the opening as well. Thanks Guys!

There is a Sportwerks backplate for the Mach 427 that has a groove cut in it so you don't have to cut the pin off of the crank. If yours has the groove, you should be good to go. The part number is SWK8057. I have used this before and it works great.
