We will see who wins the customer service battle, because I just burned up a JR servo and my roommate just toasted a hitec. Lets see who can get the servo repaired and shipped back the quickest and whose service is the best!
Be sure and open a new thread so we don't miss the update.

I'll plug for the JR while I'm here. There the best. Just look at there web site.

I have both the 5955 on my steering and the 9000s on my throttle and i wouldn't trade my Hi-Tec for two jr's. Customer service, hands down jr is the best but that's because thier servo's burn up so quick they have to treat you good. Hi-tec took thier sweet time getting back to me but in two years ive only needed them once. Ive gone through about 10 Jr's in the same two years. Good company just not so great of a product.

Good to know. I just burnt up a 9000 in my 8t and just got my 5955 in the mail

I love my Hitec 5955TG. I can tighten down the servo saver all the way down on the buggy and never have a problem.

I've smoked so many JR and Futaba servos I have given up oon them !
I have hitec servos in all my RC vehicles 5995TG steering and 965tg for throttle all running straight off lipos no regulator (I use Spektrum recievers good up to 9.6 volts) The 5995's put out 541in oz of torque with 7.4 volts and turn at .12 !! Beat that JR !! These servos are incredibly powerful and YOU MUST HAVE THINGS SET UP CORRECTLY or they WILL break stuff!

Seriously, you are using direct power from lipo straight to receiver ( thus including the servo ), and you are telling us so far so good ? Coz, I'm looking for some group of brave people to do that.

I have Hitec 5995TG and Futaba HRS receiver. I test direct lipo for 10 minutes and they are okay. I also notice the increase speed awesome How long have you been doing this ??

I have been doing this for over 3 years now, but not with Futaba stuff , they seem to not like the direct power ! If you run Spektrum stuff you can do this ,especialy with the robot servos ,as they are made to handle the current!

I've had both, and they honestly feel exactly the same. I'd say go with the JR, just because of the warranty.

Sorry, I meant the servos, not the power source. If I was using an old BEC equipped receiver, then yeah, why bother with an external BEC.

oh i see.

I'm just want to make sure my hitec 5995tg servos will be working for 3 years like his, instead of 3 months

Thumbs up

Well I just got my servo back, about 5 days earlier than my roommate. He shipped it out 9 days before I sent mine out and he got his back saturday. So as far as speed of return it was marginally better with JR. But, I got a nasty note with mine stating it must have been my fault but it was fixed for good customer service and I paid shipping. My roommate got a brand new servo and didn't pay anything for shipping.

So really customer service in this round, I give the nod to Hitec. In fact I just installed my brand new 5955 in my 8ight to go along with the 5965 sitting the throttle hole...

Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong....

Thanks for the update. I've used JR for 12 years and have never had trouble or even had one go bad. I was wondering what would be done. I've noticed the bigger the company the tighter they are on warranty issues. Not necessarily RC products. I would say you got a fair shake from JR. But with the Hitec being a very reliable servo they out did the big boyz on this one.
Now I would say test the Hitec and JR for some time side by side and winner take all. Maybe some day you'll post that result? Remind us of this one. Thanks.
