I know some guys take a soldering iron and melt the seams a little to make sure they are sealed.

Might try putting a sealant around the seam. I know that shoe goo holds good on plastic's. I should have read two msgs earlier. ha ha.

Default tanks

Thanks for all the ideas, I just picked up a re-welded tank form someone who welds plastics for a living. He pretty much gaurentee's it, he said I'll break the tabs before the weld breaks. He also suggested different sealants, similiar to shoe glue, just in case. It just sucks when your at the track and run into this type of crap, but thats racing, I still haven't heard from Losi, and I e-mailed them Saturday

You could throw a tank from a different manufacturer on.....seems like an easier fix to me.

I ran mine just over a year (almost every weekend) with no tank issues. I sold the car to a guy at my local track & he has not had an issue yet. Maybe a bad batch out now?

There's gotta be something wrong, and yes it's gotta be a bad batch!

Haven't happened to me yet *knock on wood* but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. After seeing a couple tanks from 2 different racers break in a day, I really believe there's something wrong with them. (total of broken tanks on that day was seven is what I heard, I left the track early and didn't witness the rest).

The 2 broken tanks I saw basically split in half at the seam not only stopping them from running but also leaving the chassis full of fuel!

Same here, the only tank I have had to replace was from another buggy slamming into me at full speed, other than that no issues. Has to be a different adhesive being used.....surely, what else could it be.

Default losi tanks

i have replaced a few tanks for cracked seams, i believe that there are bad batches out there.
as for the lids leaking !
the spring gets over stretched when you open the lid to the full open position ( like when using a fuel gun ) and it will not have any pressure on the lid when in the closed position after the first use, resulting in a fuel leak and a hard to tune condition.
try it , open the lid fully then close it and see how little pressure is on the lid in the closed position , nill to none, sometimes there is a small gap between the lid and the tank.
the fix is to buy the ofna tank and take the spring out of that tank and install it on the losi tank.
i know 14.00 for a spring isnt cheap , but it has plenty of pressure on the lid and your lid leaking fuel will be over.
i have swapped all my losi tanks to this and never had a leaking lid again.

Thought I would give some feedback to the cracked tank issue. I had the same issue last night after a pretty bad wreck. I tried the glue overnight which didnt work. I used my solder gun to melt the plastic along the seam. It helped but didnt seal the tank. I used some plastic from something I had in my shop that was similiar to the material used for the tank mold. I feed it a little at a time and used it to build up along the seam. It worked like a charm. I ran it all day today without issue. I now can keep running until my new tank gets here. It looks funny but is air tight again!
I hope this helps someone who runs across this issue without a spare handy which is what happened to me.

Sorry to revive an older post but I think it could help someone.

i havent heard of that happening, i had to replace only one fuel tank and thats because the clutch bearing busted and the clutchbell shot out at the tank..and put a hole in it.

My tank split right down the seam after about a half gallon on my 8t 2.0. I think Losi very well could have some bad batches of tanks. I mean they really should be able to stand up to the beating these trucks take.
