Of course it has a different set up, the other kit comes in pieces, subject to any set up, the race roller is pre assembled with a factory set up. But you are correct, the manual suggested set up in the kit is different. but they both have the same manual.

the cheapest I've seen the kit is $499 (multiple places)

I've seen the roller as low as $419 (ultimate hobbies)
