Need some Perspective on custom paint jobs?

RC Tech Nation, I just got these bodies from a guy I thought to be a reputable custom lidz designer. I get the bodies back almost a month later, and not only do I think they are sub par quality but he also forgot to include a key element of the paint scheme, silhouette skulls in the background. He want return my emails to discuss the issue.

So I am putting it to you guys to tell me if you think these bodies were worth $70.00 a piece, average. I have seen his other work so I know the quality he is capable of producing, and in my opinion this aint it! Here is a link to his site, again for comparison: http://kieferdesigns.com/new_pictures.htm

Again, the question is, do you think this is quality work from a "pro"? Thanks!

wow that sucks man, i have seen $70 paint look cleaner than that, but at the same time, i know he has made cleaner bodies, i am really suprised to see that:weird:

got to admit after looking at the other stuff on the site i would have thought the lidz would have looked better although it still looks better than i could do i wouldn't have spent 70 bucks on that!

Your right man it does suck and I have seen him do better work also. I know he said that he was sick the week that he did my bodies so he may have rushed through it...no worries we all have off days. I just want him to make it right and in line with the quality of work I know he can produce! Thanks for the feedback and honest opinion.

Integra, I can't get him to return my emails so I will be calling him from this point forward. The quality of the trim work is similar on the rest of the body, for which the only work is on the front, which is acceptable. Leaving off key elements of my theme unacceptable. Thanks for taking a look at it.

was that 70 a piece, you supply the body? or did that price include the body?

Integra 03-12-2008 09:28 PM

No problem rcjunky10.....always out to help a brotha out.

We all have off days .. If it was me i would have offered them to you at a cheaper rate and hope it all went well..then if not just work something out for the next batch again at a reduced rate and sell the onees he already did on flea bay just to cover the cost of the bodies
But in turn It's easy to think of this killer paint scheme but it's alot harder to lay out on a body sometimes
But i do see the point of your concern..

That's insane. I've seen his work before and to be honest this looks nothing like it. Do you think he would have let someone else paint for him due to being sick or behind or something like that? I wouldn't accept those bodies if I were you.

That is such a shame, i hope you get it sorted out.

$70 for a simple clean job sounds about right, thats around what this cost me in the picture below - including body shell. If your not put off getting a custom shell it's well worth giving this guy a shout. Very easy to deal with and this was a super clean job, it looks even better in the flesh. His other stuff is out of this world at times, he comes highly reccomended. He also has a big reputation and wouldn't let something sub par go out to someone.

Maybe he has a pet monkey who paints the bodies he doesn't have time for. If that's the case, that Monkey did a great job!

Post a picture of the whole body in one frame. I understand that for $70 bucks, you wanted it to be perfect. But those only seem like little problems. If the body looks great when mounted and running, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Just spread the word about this guy to make sure he doesn't "rip-off" anyone else. Also, don't worry about skulls, they are trendy, like tribal tattoos, you are better off without them.

At least you got you bodies back. I sent my bodies to a different painter and never got my lids back. After over 4 months I finally got a refund. :flaming:
