I switched to the 2.2 truck rims and taller tires. It made a BIG positive difference in getting around my local tracks. I've used two different Traxxas rims.

#1972 are white dished rims and #4172 are chrome spoke mags. Both have the 12mm hex pattern and clear everything on the truck without modification.

Most HPI 2.2 truck wheels come with an
adapter kit. I bought a set of gunmetal
grey six-spoke wheels and used the included
hexes with the aluminum outer washer behind
the axle nut which is also included. They also
make the six-spoke in black and chrome.

Thanks for the info, rageworks.

Did you put those on a CRT.5?

Yes I run them on my .5. I glued a set of
Proline roadrage tires on them. I bolt them
on when I'm breaking motors in, running
around the parking lots. A bunch of us with
r/c's sometimes get together for all-nite
super lot fun. So I bolt on an O.S. .12-5 port
with a 16 tooth cb and the street tires. The
.5 is fast and fun to bash like that and when
the sun comes back up. Just swap out the
tires and cb. and hit the track.

Which clutch bell do you use for the track?

Also, do you have any pics of your CRT.5 with the HPI wheels (or maybe a link to the ones you bought)?
