I like to clean my tires with Castrol SuperKleen ,this stuff keeps the rubber nice and soft and stickey so the tires stay "fresh" because the track I race on is very easy on tires, you can get a set to last at least 6-10 outings if not more. Only time they wear is when the track drys out.
When you use this stuff use it full strength, and wear gloves !!! It will take the skin off your hands a day or two later if you don't !!! Also rinse them off with hot water and a scrub brush and your done !
Super sticky ,spotlessly clean tires !!

+1 on the simple green, thats my favorite!!
superclean is good too though, its funny because you can take a tire that LOOKS clean and spray it down with the superclean and watch the red/brown water run!! lol! i think it cleans the pores of the rubber or something?! plus i get it for free at work ssoooo...

The best way IMO is just to brush them off with a stiff brush. Water will greatly reduce the life of the foams (Any foam) causing them to go flat. If you want them to look "New" clean, then "Simple Green" works wonders, like the other posts mentioned. Just light spray the tread after brushing. The only time I will use water, is if I'm racing on a very abrasive track, where I know I will go threw the tread long before the foams would deteriorate. If/When you do use water to clean, make sure you have punched 2-3 holes in the tread face so when water/dirt does get inside, the centrifugal force ex-spells it out...

Why would you bother to clean them?
Just take a hard bristle brush and get the dirt off the the tread....no need to make them look pretty. this is offroad, they will get dirty the next time you strap them in anyway.
i only wipe down the left rear rim with a damp towel. Done.

Simple green........
If you clean your tires they will stay fresh and soft. This will better enable them to compensate for when track conditions change.
IE - You run on a wet track and get a thin layer of dirt on the tire. The next time you go out the track is still wet but the dirt has crusted and dried. If your tire is soft and clean you will never deal with this issue and hopefully be a little more consistant.
