Also upgrade tie rods to titanium, thats the only thing other than a shock top I have broke yet. The Jammin extended chassis is also a great upgrade. I have an OS .18TZ in my truck and it absolutely rips! But I have heard good things about the Jammin .12 and its cheap! I put a Losi 8ight clutch on mine as well, it fits and its super smooth! Good luck with the search but its kinda hard since you need a slide carb, rear exhaust, and an SG crank!

The choices are endless i am running the JLR picco red dot and its stupid fast.. but you can get for cheap the OS 18tm that will produce very well and yes the Jammin 12 is very good for the price.

O.S.12TZ-5port is what I run in my .5. Lots of low
end torque and it screams on the top end.

the sh .12 is only about 75 bucks and has a pull start version.the os .18 are also pretty cheap and should have pull start versions.i tried the jammin .12.most any other engine is gonna have more power.i as well as almost everyone else would vote for a bumpstart version of whatever you decide.no one way troubles, less weight, easier tuning because there is waaaayyy less of a chance of an air leakon the back of a non p/s engine, etc.
by the way i really like the sh,but i am thinking about moving up to something more high-end,like the jlr picco,or a novarossi or rb,just for the sake of trying something new.on the track the low budget sh doesnt give up much though.for crazt power and low budget, try an os .18.
and read up on the crt .5 thread!!!(all these opinions are already there!!)

I have a slight issue with that statement. I beat the hell out of my .5 and I have only broken a turnbuckle and a rear upright in a year.

I just put a Novarossi LL3 in mine and started the breakin process, but I think it is overkill.
