Default Xray XB808 Setup

Yes, I'll measure my car out tomorrow and post the link to the the teamxray setup sheet I make. The secret to off power is running the Grey (1 step softer front spring) and also using the 2.2mm front swat bar. You will be able to pivot 180 on a loose track with this setup.

The short:
I'm running the stock Silver spring in the rear, and Grey in front (Not BlueGrey). Losi 40 front oil and Losi 35 rear oil. Diffs at Mugen (5k front) (6k center) (2k rear).

I think I'm gonna try this, move the front A-arm back 2mm,that should put more weight on the front wheels. My 808 weighs about 3.132,so I can put some weight in the front, what do you think about this?

XRAY has published an article about the 808's development.

I have to say this car is AMAZING on dry dirt. My 808 seemed to be the only car in control when the track was insanely loose. I'm very happy, but I have yet to see it on wet dirt now that its set up properly.

What setup are you running? I am waiting for my lighter sway bars to come in to be in line with Rocco's starting setup. Before the rain yesterday, my car felt so much better than my 777.

I do think my C6 is finally dying. This is the third summer for it it is finally losing compression. Longest lasting engine I ever had!

More steering into a corner:
Lay front shocks down
Lighten up front shock oil
Lighten up Front/center diff oil
Less front brake/more rear
More camber in front
Lower front camber link
Softer spring
Just a hair more rear droop
THE RIGHT TIRES and SLOWING DOWN help a lot too....

I just posted my setup from the Texas State Pro Series Race. The track was mostly flat so a really good turning setup was needed, feel free to check it out on the XRAY Forum....

i thought that heavier oil/spring will put more pressure on the outside wheel and so will help with steering? i'm still learning - would you explain the thought behind this setup?

thanks!

You should get more steering reaction, but what youre thinking about is the sway bar... On a smooth track with bite, a harder sway bar will actually (I think) give you more traction OVERALL, but it makes the car very touchy and not so great in the bumps and its hard to drive.

Light oil lowers steering reaction but allows for more weight transfer. Two of the most important things in setup are tires and weight transfer...

although I havent tried it yet.. if its mid corner off power steering you can try a larger degree caster block when available this will however give the car more power push at the exit of corner.
lower hole in front arm may be a viable option to be worth a try..

More caster gives you more onpower steering and less offpower, so heads up.

More caster takes the twitchy-ness away.

Hi Mazzinga.

I noticed on your setup that you have used a five hole rear shock piston. Why is this? Couldn't you just use thicker shock oil and achieve the same thing?
