I'm selling my Tmaxx to buy a BUggy. The Losi Eight has caught my eye simply because its what I used to race years ago (JRx2 Days). What is the best for racing?

ahh i see, well this is where I am tryin to get assistance, I'm no retard to racing. Its been awhile though. What would you guys suggest as far as a TL Eight kit? a RTR, the race roller, buggy kit?

The race roller and buggy kit are the same, just the roller is assembled, the kit is not.

The RTR has an engine and electronics, some of the parts are not quite as good as the race roller or kit.

Since right now (for some strange reason) you can find the race roller CHEAPER than the kit, I would buy that and save $100. (on Losi/Associated parts house)

buy good servos, radio, motor, pipe, and you are good to go.

Personally I would go with the kit for racing (it's also what I actually purchased). If you're pretty much forced to build it, you'll have less of a hard time when you take it apart for maintenance.

I've never had a race roller, but I have heard complaints of people with them who wound up taking apart the entire car regardless just to make sure everything is in check. That's an oxymoron IMO, but you shouldn't need to take a car apart should you go that way, they seem to be built nicely.

The RTR is not really made for racing, being it has a .26 engine (it's a roto-start too I think, not sure). It also apparently has very weak servos, so you would most likely need to replace them off the bat.

There are many great buggies out there. I would recommend a buggy that is popular at your local track or that your buddies run. That way you can leverage their knowledge about set up tips as well as share spare parts should you break something. CEN, Jammin, Mugen, Losi, Hyper or my favorite, RC8 are all good buggies.

If you plan to race, buying the RTR means spending some more money to get it race ready. The Kit you need to assemble, but as someone said before you will learn the car in and out. The Roller, although it comes already assemble, you need to take a part a few specific areas to make sure everything is right.

Where you will be running, will there be other losi guys?
Does your LHS stock 8ight parts?
if you answer yes to both of these I would go for the 8ight
I like mine
I had the Jammin X1 CR buggy for a few years before I got the 8ight rght before this xmas. The 8ight handles great however it is also setup sensative. which is a good and bad thing depending on if you know what you are doing.
but losi also has a great tuning manuel.
the roller also has an aditional tuning guide which is nice.

I'm biased a little.........but I didn't re-assemble my RC8....I just ran it! The car has a good price and also the RS RTR is really nice. It's got all the same peformance stuff as the FT car, just a little less "bling".
