V-Spec or Ninja

Ninjas are still available at Mugen and as far as I know they have no plans to stop importing them. Keep in mind Ninjas are made in Italy. The Italian are notorious for engine supply shortages due to the many vacations they take.
OS does not have this problem, but I still see broken crankcases occasionally with the Vspec.

I heard Mugen might be dropping the Ninja line...so thats something to think about between the 2 engines.
i personally would buy the Vspec in comparison to, cheaper to rebuild, easier to break in.

You guys are correct about Mugen dropping the Ninja/GRP/Falcon line of engines. I dont really know the details but there is a write-up on it on Neobuggy.net. I personally would run the Vspec for 2 reasons, it screams, and there are alot of people running them, in turn it will be easier to access help as far as tuning and whatnot.

I have ported quite a few of both of those engines and it seems the ninja motors consistantly lasted over 10 gallons without any trouble. The guys that ran the V-spec were reporting that the motors were fantastic for the first 3 gallons or so and then they started spitting out bearings. That was a common problem with those motors and OS has told me that they have resolved the problem recently with better bearings and I'm am still waiting to see what type of life we will get out of those. So in my opinion, the ninja which is Rossi based is the more reliable motor at this point and with the proper porting, they run pretty close to each other.

Well the old 2006 Vspecs would split the case where the rod clearance is machined out. Now they split right down the middle on the bottom of the case.
I talked to Mugen today and was told the whole Mugen dropping GRP rumor got started because a Mugen sponsored driver switched engine sponsors. You guys can believe that or not.
Personally I don't care about parts availability on engines. I have never had good luck rebuilding any engine. After 5-7 gallons of racing every part in the thing needs replaced and that costs about as much as a new engine. Better off to get $75 out of the used one and buy new.
