Default To build or buy

I used to race monster trucks and am getting back into racing. I am looking at 1/8 truggies. Is it better to buy a roller or rtr. I have looked at the 8ight, hellfire, and ofna x1 crt. What in your opinion will get the most durable and competitive car for a weekend racer.
TIA Cody

You will almost always spend more on a kit then an RTR. If you plan on racing go with a kit because it will most likley have the racing hopups you need. There is one RTR which is Definitly race ready. That is the Losi 8ight. It has a good motor, a Great radio, and 2 servos that are raceable. This would be my choice.

i second that for the losi if you do decide to go the RTR path. i dont have much experience with other RTRs, but its a nicely built car and probably wouldnt take much to upgrade it out to the race kit specs.

but if you planned to skip that and go straight back into the big boys, its hard to say which i would pick. it all depends on how much you wanna spend and how easily you can get parts for it. other than that, its a close race IMO. i run a mugen and love it, but i cant say that i wouldnt try something else, they all have their pros and cons..

You personaly need to decide if you wanna buy a kit and build it and add all of your own personal stuff or just buy a rtr one with everything you need except,Glow starter,Starter box etc.....If you were going to buy a kit i would buy the Hellfire Ss kit or the Losi 8ight kit,If rtr i would get the Hellfire rtr or the Losi 8ight RTR.
