Engine crackleing
When i start my engine it will idle and with out hitting the gas at all it starts to crackle but still stays idle and sounds like its about to die but it wont.....
is that because the piston is going barley fast enough to keep it moving on its own?

Sounds like an airleak or a bearing about to fail. I would do like Houston says and break the motor down.

A crackling noise coming from the exhaust pipe usually means detonation. If you recently did any maintenance or repair to the engine and forgot to reinstall one or all of the head shims, there's a good chance that there's too much compression and it's creating detonation. Check the top of the piston and the inner surface of the head button - if it has the appearance of being sandblasted, then you're engine is definitely suffering from detonation.

That was my first thought as well. Also, going to a hotter plug will only amplify the problem.
Detonation is also usually described as having a "frying egg" sound.
